Want to Take Down Big Scores?

You've Come to the Right Place

Nobody hires big brains straight out of school like Redfin, and nobody gives 'em more responsibility.

For the summer of 2012, Redfin expects to hire a dozen recent graduates from top-flight colleges.

What should you expect? You get to – you've got to – make a difference. We don't put people on meaningless prototypes in a 300-person group. Even if you're with us for only three months, we expect you to ship two big projects.

For both full-time and intern positions, we're hiring three types of people...

Computer Scientists

Today, Redfin is hiring computer scientists for jobs building our mobile tools, our search website as well as our core technology for digitizing the entire homebuying and selling process.

Redfin's development teams are small but powerful. Our website is a cult. Our mobile tools are at the top of the charts.

We release often and take chances on cutting edge technologies. We make sure everyone understands how the business works and gets lots of design responsibility.

Mathematicians & Number-Crunchers

We're hiring mathematicians for jobs in analytics, to predict what homes are most likely to sell, as well as which users are mostly likely to become, over the course of 12 – 24 months, happy customers.

We give you problems we know you can solve, and problems we're not sure anyone can solve. It's a fun mix, and a very smart crew. We'll also teach you a lot about programming.

We also want folks with economics and finance backgrounds to work in our finance department, focused on strategic planning as well as daily operations.

Poets

And we're hiring thinkers and writers from liberal arts backgrounds for marketing jobs to build a totally new consumer brand.

The business teams in marketing and analytics are small schools of piranhas. You get lots of freedom and responsibility. You learn in two years what takes other people 20.

See what Redfin accomplished last summer:

Coral built a dynamic tool for marketing listings that our homeselling customers are raving about. At the end of her internship, Coral got a Redfin-branded iPad.

Kevin analyzed some of our six million+ listings on a Hadoop cluster to find ways to automatically improve data quality, one of our primary sources of competitive advantage.

Ji helped to revamp our online agent profiles, letting users vote customer reviews up or down; she also dived into machine-learning algorithms for automated home recommendations.

Redfin engineer Dane spent a few years as a professional river-rafting guide & pool shark; he took Daniel and Hardeep down some Class 4 whitewater.

Daniel produced, directed and shot a video of our top-rated Android application, ran a direct-mail campaign and single-handedly placed over a dozen Redfin stories in the local press.

Hardeep processed 100 gigabytes of data in Hadoop, then used Pig, Map/Reduce, and Hive to report on how revenue-producing customers use our site differently than everyone else.

Seth used machine-learning algorithms to predict which homes will sell, and also developed two new versions of the iPhone app that was featured in Apple's national TV ads.
