At Redfin, we work hard to provide you with the best listing data available. Our website and mobile apps show all the homes for sale via the local listing services used by real estate agents. In US markets we also show homes in foreclosure, homes for sale by owner (FSBO), and records of past sales. Most of our listings are updated every 5 minutes* so you can see new homes as soon as they come on the market.
What you'll see in US markets:
All broker-listed homes from the Multiple Listing Service (MLS)
Homes in foreclosure, with addresses
FSBO homes
Records of past sales, from last week to 20 years ago
What you'll see in Canadian markets:
All broker-listed homes from the MLS® System of the Board in Canada
Sale prices for sold homes in Toronto
Property types we don't show:
Pre-foreclosure properties
Properties for sale on Craigslist
Outdated listings
Commercial properties
FSBO homes or homes in foreclosure in Canada
Records of past sales in Canada outside of Toronto
Listing Updates
As a brokerage, Redfin has access to the databases that all brokerages use to list properties. That means we can show you all the properties listed by other brokerages, unless the seller has requested that the listing not be published or marketed online. Redfin updates this data as quickly as possible and shares as much information with our users as allowed by local rules. Redfin sends you updates when new homes come on the market that match your search, drop in price, or go under contract. The chart below shows how recently Redfin updated listing data in your local area.

For Sale by Owner
The for-sale-by-owner inventory on Redfin comes from Fizber.com and FSBO.com. Redfin doesn’t directly import for-sale-by-owner listings from other sources, such as Owners.com and Craigslist.
Data on Sold Homes in Canada
In 2015, Redfin supported making Canadian home sale data more accessible to the public in testimony to the Canadian Competition Tribunal. In 2018, a Canadian court ruled that real estate sales data can be shared online, paving the way for Redfin to provide this valuable information to consumers. We'll continue to add data on sold homes in other markets as it becomes available.
Homes Not on Redfin
If a home you've seen on another site does not appear for sale on Redfin, it may be because the home has been sold, but sites that update their listings less frequently still show it as being for sale. For more information about why a home may not appear on Redfin, visit our Help Center .
