Your refund is calculated on a sliding scale and based on the list price of the home. The more expensive the home, the greater the refund. You'll find the actual refund amount posted on the listing details page for the home you're interested in. Regardless of the actual commission being offered or how much we can negotiate off the list price, your refund is guaranteed to be the amount that is posted on our site when you make an offer.
Usually we can apply the refund against your closing costs, subject to lender approval [1].
If you buy a short sale, the typical calculation does not apply. Instead, we'll provide up to a 15% refund of the commission, based on the final sale price of the home.
If you sell one home and buy another through Redfin within a 9-month period you'll save an additional $500 on the second transaction. Unfortunately, transactions with Redfin partner agents don't qualify. Learn more about selling with Redfin.
We partner with agents from other brokerages to work with you when you're buying a home outside our service area or below our minimum price. Redfin Partner Agents typically charge the standard commission; however, they'll refund up to 15% of their commission to you because you come to them through Redfin ($2,500 minimum commission, subject to lender approval). Partner agents are client-reviewed, with every review published on our website. While they work for other brokerages, partner agents deliver Redfin-certified service to Redfin customers.
[1] Our refund is subject to lender approval, and there may be restrictions with VA or FHA loans. Your refund cannot be used as part of your down payment or to meet the capital reserve requirements of your loan program.
