How to Clear Your Browser's Cache

Your Internet browser stores the images, sounds, videos and web pages that you have visited in a local hard drive folder called a cache. This helps browsing the Internet faster for you. Occasionally, a file can be stored incorrectly in that cache and cause problem with our web site, so we recommend clearing it.

Internet Explorer

To clear the web browser cache in Internet Explorer 8.0:

  1. Select the Tools menu.
  2. Click Internet Options.
  3. In the General tab, click the Delete... button in the Browsing History section.
  4. Click the Temporary Internet files box.
  5. Click the Delete button.
  6. Click the OK button.

To clear the web browser cache in Internet Explorer 7.0:

  1. Select the Tools menu.
  2. Click Internet Options.
  3. In the General tab, click the Delete... button in the Browsing History section.
  4. Click the Delete files... button.
  5. Click the Yes button.
  6. Click the Close button.
  7. Click the OK button.

To clear the web browser cache in Internet Explorer 6.0:

  1. Select the Tools menu.
  2. Click Internet Options.
  3. In the General tab, click the Delete Files... button in the Temporary Internet Files section.
  4. Click the OK button.
  5. Click the OK button again.

Mozilla Firefox

To clear your cache in Mozilla Firefox 3.5:

  1. Select the Tools menu (the Firefox menu on Macs).
  2. Click Clear Recent History.
  3. Click the Details button.
  4. Uncheck all checkboxes except Cache.
  5. Click the Clear Now button.
  6. Click the OK button.

To clear your cache in Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or 3.0:

  1. Select the Tools menu (the Firefox menu on Macs).
  2. Click Options (Preferences on Macs).
  3. On the Privacy tab select Clear Now.
  4. Uncheck all checkboxes except Cache.
  5. Click the Clear Private Data Now button.
  6. Click the OK button.

Safari on Mac

To clear your cache in Safari 3.0 or higher:

  1. Select the Safari menu.
  2. Click Empty Cache...
  3. Click the Empty button.
