Trackbacks

Are you a blogger who writes about local real estate? If you link to a Redfin listing in your blog post we'll link back to your site from that listing in the Sites Linking to... section. We'll also link to you from our city, zip and neighborhood pages which roll up all of the links in that area.

The Sites Linking to... section contains all trackbacks for a given home.

For blogs that use Movable Type or support automatic trackbacks, a link to your content will automatically appear on Redfin in a matter of minutes. For everyone else, your link can be added to Redfin using the trackback URL , manual trackback, or pingbacks.

Trackback URLs

Many blogging platforms allow an author to enter one or more trackback URLs when publishing a post. This lets the blogging software know where to send a title, excerpt and URL of the post that Redfin can use to create a link on our site. To get the trackback URL for a page that you are linking to, just find the Sites Linking to... section on the page and click on the Add your post link. A dialog will popup with the trackback URL.

Once you have copied the trackback URL, you can paste it into your blogging software. Wordpress users can paste trackback URLs into the Send Trackbacks box. Other blogging software offer a similar option when publishing a blog post.

Note that once your blog has sent Redfin a trackback, it can take a few minutes for your link to appear.

Manual Trackbacks

Not all blogging software supports trackbacks. In particular, Google's Blogger service does not provide any way to send Redfin notification of a linking post. For these blogs, we provide the ability to manually enter a trackback to get your link on Redfin. If you have a blog post that links to a Redfin listing or region page and want to add a link back to your blog from that page, click Add your post in the Sites Linking to... section. Just fill out the form and your link will appear on the Redfin page in a matter of minutes.

Pingbacks

Pingbacks are an automated alternative to trackbacks that Redfin also supports. Many of the major blogging platforms, such as Wordpress and Movable Type, support this technology. If your blogging software supports pingbacks, all you have to do is link to a Redfin listing or region page and a link to your post will appear on our site in a matter of minutes. Pingback links do not include the blog title or an excerpt like trackbacks do. If your blog supports pingbacks but you want the link on Redfin to include your blog title and an excerpt, you may also wish to use the trackback URL or enter a manual trackback for your post.

Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble getting your link to appear on Redfin send an email to techsupport@redfin.com. Please include a link to your blog post and details on what you have tried so far when you email us so that we can best help you.

Removing Links from Redfin

Redfin reserves the right to remove links that we consider to be offensive, irrelevant, or spam. Blogs or people which repeatedly send us spammy links or attempt to abuse the manual system may be suspended or blocked. You can help us remove these bad links by clicking Flag as Inappropriate beneath the link. Flagged links will be reviewed by a Redfin moderator.

Offensive or irrevelant trackbacks can be flagged.

If you are an agent or a seller and you believe that some of the links for your listing are inappropriate, you can click Flag as Inappropriate beneath a link to have it reviewed by a Redfin moderator. Many MLSs, including all those which are NAR-affiliated, allow sellers to request to remove all public commenting/blogging from a listing. Redfin respects this request by hiding all links for that particular listing.
