Angela was very passive and non-communicative; she did nothing to drive this deal forward or to protect our rights/interests as Buyers. She allowed the Sellers to walk all over us and herself and did nothing to protect our rights or to champion our terms. She allowed the Sellers to dictate all the terms, allowed them the opportunity to continuously change their minds, allowed them to unnecessarily prolong the negotiating period, and allowed them to be not liable to their counter-offers. Based on her advice, we had actually agreed/signed and submitted two different counter-offers. But, the Sellers were not bound to their counter-offer and had opportunities to further re-evaluating their own counter (which we had already accepted)...further prolonging and complicating the transaction. Despite her supposed 10+ years of experience (her LinkedIn profile only shows 3 years of real estate experience), we were able to negotiate better terms ourselves than she could...and SHE was getting frustrated at us for not allowing her to "coach" us. In fact, we had to coach her on how to position us and our terms to the Seller and even then we did not get the sense she conveyed our messages/ideas the way we intended. At various points, she recommended we walk away from this deal because it was too complicated...too complicated for her! What good agent advises their client to walk away from their dream home instead of working to make the deal happen? Most of the time, we felt we were the only ones who wanted the deal to happen. In fact, on one conference call with the Sellers' agent (we requested a conf-call with the Sellers' agent because we could not get any answers from Angela), Angela provided anecdotal evidence that supported the Sellers' position instead of ours! At the most crucial juncture of the sales contract negotiations, she took herself out of the deal ignoring our calls and emails without any notice. Her excuse is that she's too busy. We have full-time jobs AND we were able to make this a priority...whereas this IS her full-time job yet she was often unreachable. We had to do some detective work to reach the Redfin branch manager and have someone else assigned to our deal. Lastly, Angela's "recommendations" were largely useless…she'd pretty much state the obvious choices and say we could do whatever we wanted. I'm also pretty certain she just passed along documentation for us to sign without reading it first (e.g. there were several terms that protected the Seller but not us and Angela said nothing, didn't reference them or point them out to our attention, and did not suggest ways to protect ourselves). If you're dealing with a very straight-forward transaction and have no intentions of negotiating, I'm sure Angela would suffice. But if the transaction gets a little intricate, requires creative problem solving, or requires an ounce of aggressiveness, we STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND Angela Creech. |

Redfin is horrible!!! I wish I had never even heard about you. I am very not satisfied from the representation of Redfin, Angela Creech, and her manager Erik (e.g., being understaffed such that it not allowed for me to enter the property for inspection per paragraph 2.E. of the Purchase Agreement Addendum; no replies, not getting counter offer on time, didn’t send recommended service providers, made mistakes about the escrow deadlines, etc.). I feel your agent is unqualified, inexperienced, I am not confident in her qualifications; she seems to be directing all of my problems to Erik so there is no effective dealing with her. Additionally, I didn’t realize that your company is not sufficiently staffed to deal with my needs – you have one agent representing the entire area, which is ridicules! No matter what is going to happen, I had fully intention on requesting my 100% money back.At some point, after consulting with my lawyer, I was willing to allow you to get out of my contract with Redfin. I could continue with completing the transaction, which would have consumed an enormous amount of yours and your agent’s time, wherein ultimately at the end I would be asking for a full refund and any and all costs that I am entitled to. I wanted to terminate this contractual relationship immediately, with no further efforts required from either side. I felt that a mutual release of obligations will best solve this ordeal.I have just spoken with many professors colleagues who are very actively involved in real estate investment. I strongly discouraged them from even thinking about using Redfin. Working with Redfin was one of the most horrible experiences of my life. I needed to pay a lot for lawyers just to deal with Redfin. It was painful, time consuming, very not professional and def. bad experience. I would never use Redfin and will never recommend it. Furthermore, I am going to write everything in blogs online, and am going to open a specific website, as well as to contact editors I know at Wall Street Journal and New York Times, with the goal of elaborating (I have everything documented in writing) in specific details how Redfin made my life miserable after submitting the offer with you. |
