Brian was a fabulous agent - courteous, ever-available, and willing to answer any question we had. He guided us through the home buying process without any hiccups. In fact, the seller's agent even thanked him at our closing because he was such a great agent.

Non-Brian Comment: At your evening training session you recommended that things might go smoother with a well known bank. So I went with Wells Fargo and had a very painful experience. Wells Fargo refused to allow the Redfin refund at closing. I think the training session should recommend that we go with an agent who has worked with Redfin and understands the Redfin refund, more than a well known bank. OK, now for Brian. Here are some examples from the process. 1) At the home inspection, my wife noticed a dent in the kitchen floor, hidden under a carpet. She asked if she should start flipping over all the rugs. Brian said that before closing, you typically get to do a walkthrough so if there are any hidden problems with the house, we would have a chance to resolve them. But in the final walkthrough, the owners refused to deal with us again, claiming another huge tear in the bathroom floor was a pre-existing condition. 2) The home sellers bought in 2006, were taking a big loss and felt like they could be very demanding. At one point they wanted us to re-sign the entire contract with SIRVA relocation listed as the seller and sign an additional packet of disclosures. I said that I suspected the homeowners could work out a different plan with his employer, but I was open to the idea. My wife was strongly against re-signing the contract and the new language. Brian initially said we could go either way, but then strongly advised us to sign. This put me in an awkward position trying to convince my wife to sign something she didn't want to sign. Ultimately, as I suspected from the beginning, the home sellers figured out a different plan that did not require us to re-sign everything. But not before we had a very stressful week that seems like it could have been avoided. 3) Brian indicated that while the Redfin Refund typically comes within 7-10 days, he was hopeful it could come in 3-5 days. It took 11 days for us to get the refund that we expected to use at closing. This was typical of our entire home buying experience. Brian would suggest the typical process and things would not work out. A fair assesment is that Brian probably worked harder on this than the typical transaction, but I would be hesitant to work with him or recommend him based on my overall bad experience. Much of what went wrong was probably out of his control, but when the whole experience was this painful, I'm certainly left wanting better advice, more realistic expectations, and less stress. So let me restate the question: Did Brian work hard and try to deliver a good experience with this transaction: 10 Did Brian deliver a smooth and pleasant experience: 1

Brian was wonderful to work with. He quickly, clearly, and competently answered every question that we had throughout the process. He was extremely accessible and answered phone calls and emails immediately, even though much of our negotiating occurred over the course of a weekend. Brian was also very respectful and professional, and we look forward to working with him again! |
