Our home buying experience with Loren Ellingson has been very positive. Being first time home buyers we had several questions in every phase of this process and Loren patiently answered our questions.His response to our emails was very prompt which helped us a lot while making decisions.His deep knowledge and thorough feedback made this whole house buying experience with Redfin a very pleasant one.Though we never met him personally,we felt that we got all the attention and support that we would have received with the physical presence of an agent. One thing we thought that could have been better was even more aggressive bargaining on the price.We got a good deal but we felt a little more pushing on the sale price could have helped us. Overall experience with Redfin was very good and we would happily recommend Loren and Redfin to anyone.

We're first time homebuyers, and we felt very comfortable using Redfin. Loren was always available when we had questions, and gave us great advice. He helped us decide on prices and assisted us in negotiating a great deal with a bank-owned property. He was very professional and attentive. Banks can be tough to deal with, but Loren and Earnest were very patient. I also want to express thanks to field agent Kathi K-B for taking the time on the only home tour we had with her, to nail down which part of Bellevue we wanted to buy in. We ended up concentrating our efforts on Surrey Downs after that, and found our dream house there! We truly had a great experience with Redfin and I have enthusiastically have recommended it to everyone I know.

Honestly I don't know why people don't use Redfin more. It makes no sense to me. The process is effortless & the team was more than patient w/ our many requests. I viewed over 7 homes & finally found the one we purchased & this was over 2 years. The refund of the commission was huge! Also...I've never met our closing agent face to face. I only know what he sounds like over the phone & what he looks like over the internet posting. That's how effortless the team at Redfin are. I would highly recommend them again & again.

Though the entire process was long and drawn out (that may just be my opinion since I have little patience), Loren was always available and willing to answer even the simplest of questions which came to my mind. He was quick to respond during business hours and, to my surprise, would even respond after hours. I have nothing but good things to say about the help and guidance Loren provided me. His suggestions made my home purchase result exactly how I expected it to - smooth without complication.

Loren was responsive in putting together the offer for us and in making changes we asked for. This is the first house we are buying and had sent some questions to Loren, asking for any bit of advice but never heard back from him. Maybe that level of personalized service isn't part of the RedFin experience, which may be why we get back 50% of the closing costs (which is great). Overall, our experience has been good, it would've been good to hear back on some of our questions.

I found him helpful and quick with responses. I would say that for more advanced buyers he would be a really good relator. For me as a new buyer, I require a little more help with choosing places to view, deciding on, and making the correct offer for me.

Loren was available to us above and beyond what we expected. He answered emails quickly, and was open to phone calls after what I considered normal work hours to help us in the process of buying our first home. The process did get a little confusing after our bid was accepted, we had another main contact person, Earnest. Every one was extremely helpful, but it was confusing at times as to whom we were supposed to ask which questions. Some small details weren't relayed to Earnest after the accepted bid that we had discussed with Loren and that was a little confusing for all involved. Overall, we were very happy with Redfin and Loren and Loren's team. The process was easy for us. Every one was friendly and our service was prompt on all aspects. We would definetly recommend Loren and Redfin to our friends.

Loren helped guide us through the purchase of our most recent home, and I must say, the experience was great. We had done a ton of research before booking our first home tour, and had a number of thorough conversations with Loren about neighborhoods, features of homes, and price range. He was very upfront and honest about things being over / under priced, and was quick to point out reasons why. When it came time to make the purchase, he was incredibly responsive, and worked very hard to make sure we could land an agreement. When the seller started to have cold feet, he helped us get things back on track. During the inspection, he helped run down cost estimates to make sure we were getting a good additional credit at closing for some things noted in the inspection. Loren rocks, Earnest (our closing guy) rocks, and redfin rocks! while we won't purchase another house for a while, I can wholeheartedly recommend both redfin, and loren to help you out.

I've purchased three properties previously and while this was my first Redfin experience, it was by far the smoothest transaction experienced to date. Loren was fantastic and was always available. I'm not sure if he ever sleeps, but he was there by phone, email, etc whenever I needed him. He offered great advice, negotiated a terrific deal and was ready to help throughout the entire process including post inspection negotiations. Both Loren and Redfin certainly have my business going forward!

Loren is great, always available and ready to answer any questions no matter how small. I felt like we were taken care of as if we were his only client. This was important to us knowing that Loren has many clients and is dealing with many transactions constantly. Loren is very professional and organized with paperwork. Often, I didn't have time to send emails until late at night and to my surprise I would get emails back from Loren. There was rarely a day when we would be out of communication for more than a few hours during the selling process. The whole Redfin process was a perfect fit for our needs and I would recommend Loren and Redfin to anyone.

Very professional, Loren is always available for questions and gets answers back to us quickly. We used his services to sell our house and the transaction went very smoothly. We felt he was willing to do whatever was needed to get the house sold. We had potential buyers at one point that didn't have an agent and didn't want representation. Loren walked us through the paperwork we needed to get done with the buyers even though Redfin wouldn't get a cut of the commission. We ultimately sold the house to a different couple but I was impressed with how flexible both Loren and Redfin were. We are working with Loren to purchase a new house and again were impressed with how quickly Loren put an offer together with us on a house. We are still looking but feel confident we will find what we are looking for with Loren as our agent.

Loren was great to work with and was easy to get in touch with most of the time. Got the closing done on the house I purchased in three weeks. The Redfin website is a great resource but you need to be more self sufficent if you utilize Redfin to purchase a house. The rebate was worth it and I used it to purchase appliances that were not included with the house.

After we we unable to use another Redfin Agent for an offer, Loren stepped in at the last minute and performed competently. He was friendly, informative and always very responsive to phone calls and emails. If I had any criticism it is that he did not appear to be a particularly forceful negotiator and I wonder whether I could have negotiated a slightly better deal on my own. This is a minor criticism, as negotiating style is often a matter of preference and Seller's Agent was very good.

In my opinion Loren epitomizes Redfin's goal of being customer centric. There have been many examples that illustrate that Loren is truly acting in my best interest and not just what would be good for Redfin's bottom line. He gives objective, logical advice driven by statistics and a rich background of experience. The topping on the cake is his extreme focus on being available and approachable. I can call him anytime of day or night, with big and small concerns and his responsivness is first rate. I have moved from being a fan of Redfin's business model to being a fan of Redfin and a walking advertisement for the company! And, I have to also give Kudos to the other Redfin employees that I've had the pleasure of interacting with at Redfin - all of whom I think really understand the definition of customer service.

I really loved working with field agents, particularly Dawna Forschler. She met us for two tours, and was very friendly, knowledgable, and involved with each tour. She was patient with our questions, persistant with hers (to the sellers' agents), and provided insightful and thoughtful advice. All the while, we never felt pressure from her. Best of all, she helped us find "the one," and was clearly excited for us as we made the decision to put an offer on what became our new home.We also appreciated the independence that Redfin provided, in terms of searching for homes and signing up for tours. We could make it work on our own schedule, and because we could do a lot of our own legwork, we had a lot of buy-in throughout the process. Thank you to everyone at Redfin, for making this such a smooth and enjoyable experience!

I have sold some properties by owner. It was great to get into the MLS, but still have some hands on with the showing activity and marketing or our property. That is the part I hate to give up when listing with a traditional realtor. Price matters in this market, and you need to be realistic. Once we got our price down to what the market demanded, we had several offers on our condo. We were able to chose who we felt was most qualified for a loan, and with the help of our Redfin agent, come to agreement on a fair price and close in a timely manner. I got what I hoped for, in a tough market for sellers.

Would have preferred additionally if someone from Redfin actually came out to the house at least one time. I wish I could have had the option to pay for an agent's time to help me host broker's open. The economy sucks right now. I cannot blame Redfin for the house not selling. Lots of other real estate agents in the area criticized me for using Redfin. Even lectured me out sometimes. I think some of them boycott taking their clients to Redfin houses. Did that make a difference for me this time? I'm not sure.

I sold a house through Redfin in 2004 and had a good experience. That house was a fairly standard suburban home. I was less impressed this time - our house that is for sale now has a waterfront share and Loren didn't have knowledge of this niche market. When we changed agents, they arrived at our first meeting with four different reports they had generated through a a real estate assessor they work with. They had also spent two full days visiting comparables in the area, and really knew how to compare our homes to those nearby, even down to remodel details. We were able to drill down significantly on all the data they presented, and realized through their guidance that a) we had been priced too high, and b) we needed to do a bit of clean-up work. I love the concept of Redfin, but this time around I found the data that is the cornerstone of your business was not deep enough to set Loren up for success. Loren, as an aside, was always prompt, courteous and professional, and my guess is he was doing the best he could with the large number of properties he was handling. I think you need to get better at collecting and analyzing data on niche markets, because really every house is a part of a niche market. I'm also surprised you can't do a search on your website for "Waterfront" properties - this would be a simple feature to add, and an important one in the Seattle area. Last feedback - Vicaso did a good job w/most pics but some were blurry.

I think all in all, Redfin is a good fit for me. There are times I wish I could be a further step removed from having to deal directly with showing the home and that Redfin would just take the wheel. I would definitely like to see more evidence that Redfin is outdoing what other agents can do to market my property and get it in front of the right eyes, agents and buyers alike. Still, the flat fee policy is a powerful motivator and balancer to my thinking. I truly appreciate Loren and Earnest's even keeled, low pressure attitude, and I always felt that they were adequately responsive. Other agencies give off the appearance of being hot tub salesmen with too much hairspray and fake smiles, panic-driven and plastering their for-sale signs with gimmicks that only serve to undignify the house and seller. I like that Redfin is much more calm and noble, and they stayed out of my hair for the most part but were always there when I needed them.What I don't like: Sweet Diggs just causes people to get stressed out and buy into all kinds of contradictory myths and legends and superstitions, and probably just adds to your agent's stress from having to answer all the blither-blather going back and forth. I thing Diggs is nothing more than a frenzy of noise. I want ethical, professional, advice, from one person, and I want that person to filter out the noise and separate fact from fiction.The best thing Redfin can do for me in the future, and I will continue to work with Redfin, is to dial down the volume of the marketplace noise by using straightforward and calm consul, and above all, continue to convince me that you are on my side and in favor of my interests.

Re: this survey: The questions about the Listing Coordinator and Transaction Coordinator appear to need some editting or at least rearranging. They are confusing.Setting the asking price seemed to be the most difficult part. In the end we felt we got really good advice. However, being novices at this home selling we would have benefitted from more information about finding and using an appraiser in case we wanted another perspective.We thought the Red Fin open house we attended was great. It let us meet the people behind the emails and get a behind the scenes look at the inner workings. People make a business like this and those we worked with, particularly Loren and Nelia, were a delight and able to guide us gracefully through this process.

Feel free to contact me if you'd like clarifications on the feedback or more details.1. It was really important to my wife and I to meet the agent who'd be representing us in-person before actually getting our property on the market. My wife contacted Redfin by phone and spoke to one or two people, neither of whom seemed very eager to help set up an in-person appointment. We were told this "didn't typically happen", and "we should just submit our listing data via the online wizard". Sure, I understand the business model and if you have clients that aren't serious sucking up time of your listing agents, it's not good ROI. But we were very serious, and felt like we were getting brushed off a bit. After some moderate perserverance we were given Loren's name and pinged him directly to set up some time. Once we actually made it into the office, he was FANTASTIC - volunteered to meet us early @ 8am before the office opened, patiently answered all of our questions, did the legwork to prepare a CMA and walk us through it, etc etc. He really sold us on the competenece of the team and allayed any remaining fears that we had. My feedback here is to be a little more receptive to clients who need hands-on attention up front...find a simple way to evaluate how serious they are, and for those that pass the min bar, welcome them with open arms. Set expectations about future work style/in-person meetings, but don't make the initial response "sorry, we don't meet people in-person".2. Loren was superlative in every facet of his work. He helped us decide what the right time to list was, without making us feel pressured to move forward asap. Iin a slowing market, with inventory levels and competitors greatly affecting your ability to sell quickly for a fair price, this is obviously key. Once we were listed, he bent over backwards to keep us informed, follow up with agents who had previewed the house, answer any questions we had, and walk us through the offers that we received. He stayed up late at night, and was regularly available on weekends to guide us through the process. He was detail oriented and never let anything fall through the cracks, or miss a deadline. Combining extensive knowledge of the selling process with a fantastic commitment to customer service and an amazing ability to follow through on the details guarantees that we'll recommend Loren to all of our friends and co-workers.

Market conditions, timing and the final selling price of 199,500 ultimately prevented us from saving a lot of money using the direct model, but the benefits are obvious and exponential as prices climb. One service that Redfin provided to us which was underwhelming was the graphic design of our property's flyer. Being graphic designers ourselves, we took it upon ourselves to improve the image of our home in print. Certainly, this was a minor issue as most research is done in advance and online. One other minor critique is the functionality of the Redfin web application being largely unaccessible using Safari; the default browser on the Macintosh platform. Admittedly, Mac users are a minority of web users and could choose to use Firefox to access the content, but this software is not installed out of the box on Macs, and serves as a potential barrier to customers who do not use Microsoft Windows. Our agent, Loren Ellingson did fantastic, commendable work and was in constant contact throughout the period of our listing. We will certainly consider using Redfin in the future when planning to purchase properties. Thanks for the great work.

Loren is great. The market conditions are why the home did not sell. Since mtg has changed for jumbo pricing and the fact we need to move was the only reason we changed. I would definately use Loren on the Buying side however.

I was unhappy with the whole Redfin company, with the exception of Loren Ellingson. He is the only reason we stayed with Redfin to be honest. Unfortunately, we wanted to sell our house just before everything begun going south and Redfin was not taking any new applications at the time and we had to wait a significant amount of time. We didn't realize how significant that time was until the market begun to crash and due to our wait I truly believe that we missed our window of opportunity to sell our house at a reasonable price. In total, we lost over $65,000 on the sale of our house and I blame the wait for this huge loss. I do understand that it was my choice to wait or not and I'm now kicking myself for my decision. We also started out on a bad foot with the first realtor with whom we were assigned. Her name was Karen Jones and she added to the delay by getting inaccurate information out late, and we had to wait even longer for her to fix her mistakes. I was ready to drop Redfin and go with a traditional real estate company but decided to see if another agent with your company would do a better job and that's what happened. Loren is insanely good at being available, communicating well and just really good at his job. If it weren't for him we would have left Redfin long ago. One other thing I don't like is that the agents never see the property that they're selling. I understand that you don't want them in their cars all the time but I think it's important to know what they're selling. I also felt like traditional realtors were avoiding showing our property because they feel like Redfin is starting a precidence that they arent' comfortable with. Thanks for letting me vent. And try to never lose Loren. He's a true asset to your company.

There was not a place to rate him, but Earnest Watts did an excellent job at the at the beginning of the process coordinating our listing. Loren Ellingson was terrific as well, going above and beyond by offering to show our home as needed, since he lived nearby.

I think that you are on the right track. However, with traditional agents dogging those who list with RedFin, if I had not been willing to price low to make the sale happen, I could have had a bad experience. Any way to break their hold and perhaps create an ongoing role for them or incentives, could keep them from killing you. I hope
