Our Agents
In the major metropolitan areas that we serve, Redfin employs salaried agents to help you buy or sell a home. Our agents are paid based on your satisfaction, not commission -- so they work hard to get the right result for you.
Partner agents are employed by other brokerages, but have teamed up with us to provide Redfin-certified service to a wider range of customers.
We'll refer you to a partner agent when:
- A home is outside of our direct service area.
- A home is below our minimum price.
- We're experiencing unusually high customer demand.
We choose only the best agents to be Redfin partners. We carefully interview each candidate, check at least three customer references, and ensure that each agent has completed at least 15 local transactions. And every partner agent must adhere to the same principles that guide our agent employees:
- We publish location and price data for every transaction.
- We survey every client, and publish every response.
- Our agents earn more when you are satisfied.
- We credit 15% of the commission, usually worth $1,000 - $2,000.**
- We fire agents who get bad reviews.
As a result, you get the same customer focus offered by a Redfin agent, and a hefty commission refund too.**
We send surveys to all of our partner agents' clients, whether they closed on a home or not. Then we publish all the results on their profile so you can make an informed choice.
If you're already working with a Redfin agent and you're interested in seeing a home outside of our service area or below our minimum price, just talk to your agent and we'll connect you to a partner agent who can help.*
And don't worry -- we'll never switch you to a partner agent unless you request it.

* In order to avoid procuring cause disputes, if you have toured a home with a partner agent, you cannot "switch back" to a Redfin direct agent to make an offer on that home.
** Except in Oregon, where we can't offer a refund. Minimum $2,500 commission. In Massachusetts, our partner agents will make their best effort to provide a full refund. However, due to the closing process in MA and lender guidelines around how refunds can be applied, there is an increased risk that our partners may not be able to provide some or all of the refund. Every situation is unique, so please ask your agent about your particular circumstances.
