This was our third purchase with Sean and Redfin, nothing but good to say about the whole process. We consider ourselves fortunate to have met up with these guys pretty soon after they set-up in Boston and look forward to working with them again.

Sean is great! He's very professional, responsive, and easy to work with. The only criticism we would have is that he is not very forth coming with advice; you have to specifically ask him for input.

I am a first-time home buyer on a career-related relocation from the Bay area to Boston. What I need is a buyer's agent who is, not just knowledgeable, but also trustworthy and will "truly" represent my best interest. After interviewing a few agents, including one recommended by my company, I decided to go with Sean, and that turned out to be an excellent choice. Unlike conventional agents, Sean does not tour the properties with me during my 3-day home-finding trip (Redfin has specially assigned field agents to handle such tasks); however, his expertise really comes into play after I identified the property of interest. Sean assisted me to put together an offer based on his comparative market analysis. More importantly, since my condo is located in a "mixed use property" which most banks would not finance, Sean had to identify a few local banks for me at the last-minute notice so I could get my pre-approval in time for the seller to accept the offer. When the initial agreement was signed, I had already returned to California. Sean volunteered to be present at the home inspection on my behalf, and advise me how to negotiate with the seller with regard to the imperfection identified during inspection (by the way, the inspector Sean recommended is fantastic!) I did not go for the attorneys on Sean's recommended list and chose the Bank's lawyer instead (to save a few pennies since there is no conflict of interest), and that turned out to be a mistake. The lawyer was rather incompetent that Sean had to step in to polish the final Purchase & Sales Agreement before circulating it for signature. Sean did substantial amount of work up to closing which made the entire real estate transaction rather smooth for me. I truly appreciate Sean's professionalism and dedication, and will enthusiastically recommend him to anyone who is seeking genuine advices on purchasing a property in the Great Boston area.

Sean was very helpful throughout the whole process. He would return phone calls and emails quickly and at all hours of the day. We had many questions during the offer and negotiating process and he was able to answer them all. I would highly recommend working with Sean.

I would highly recommend working with Redfin and Sean. Sean was very knowledgeable and excellent at following up/through during every step of my home buying process. I have bought two homes before through the "conventional way", and Redfin, by far was the easiest and most convenient way to buy a home.

Sean and his team did an excellent job throughout our transaction. His insight allowed us to hit the mark and then bring the transaction to a close quickly. His referrals for inspection and especially legal representation were TOPS. Sean is also an effective communicator via phone and e-mail. He was also very patient in answering questions while the Redfin team provided support along the way when he couldn't show up personally. This was a top notch transaction.

We started out working with Sean a little upset with Redfin because another agent dropped the ball on our "buy request" and by the time we got the paperwork from him (more than 18 hours after we originally submitted it!) the sellers of that house had already accepted another offer. Sean started working with us after that and really kept things moving. He was available seemingly all hours of the day and night. We really had the feeling that we were the only people he was working with! He was great.

We had a long purchase process with difficult sellers. Sean was patient and responsive for the long haul. His advice was sound and he established a good relationship with the seller's agent, which in this case, was a crucial aspect to getting the deal to work. Due to redfin's success, Sean was busy, and if he was ever unable to attend a showing, he made sure another redfin could be there. We felt this was part of the redfin advantage. While Sean was our particular contact, we felt we were supported by redfin as a whole, which makes sense as they don't have commissions. All in all, we were very pleased with our experience, and felt the refund was icing on the cake.

Sean was absolutely wonderful to work with. He is very professional and helps you through the entire home-buying process. He went above and beyond in terms of service, even putting an offer in for us on a Saturday night. I would highly recommend both Sean and Redfin to all potential buyers.

Sean was extremely insightful and professional helping me navigate my way through the first time home buying experience, which just closed with no issues.

Purchasing our first home took much longer than expected (3+ months) due to multiple factors, including, but not limited to, flakey sellers, contract disputes, unexpected layoffs (the day of closing), etc. Sean stuck by us from day one and was always there to work through whatever situation came up and to answer any questions we had. He also somehow managed to maintain a high level of professionalism, even when others he dealt with did not. Nor did he bother to wear a suit at closing, which did not seem very professional. So, I would not ask his help selling a house. It is fair to say that we had a roller coaster ride from the initial offer to the final closing due to the complexity of the transaction. Make the Redfin classes interesting for people to attend more than once. I am enjoying reading the Boston Blog and still look at properties and the market on Redfin frequently.

We truly believe that Redfin is the future of real estate. The business as it exists now is totally flawed. The Redfin model makes sense. I just wish we had known about Redfin when we were selling our home, we only learned about it when we were buying our new home.Sean Valiton, Mike McGrory and Jason Valiton were AWESOME. I have nothing but high regard for them. I am high maintenance for sure and we had an extreme situation - Sean, Mike and Jason kept things going for us and stuck with us.

He picked up immediately on my level of detail and communication; making me feel like he respected my work style. He was always candid, upfront, and honest with me; which I appreciate more than anything in a real estate transaction. Because our transaction was a short-sale, there was a lot of moving pieces. Even when I felt overwhelmed by all the steps and procedures, Sean never skipped a beat.Mike McGrory was our field agent. He knew his stuff when it came to houses and never made us feel pressured to "decide already". He was courteous and respectful even while getting soaked in torrential rain! The whole operation was a huge success. My wife and I had talked about Redfin a lot before deciding to go with you and we're still in shock at how great of an experience it was. I'm an advocate now on the streets telling all of my friends, "ditch your hair-spray wearing, mercedes driving, salesman in a real estate consultant's clothes and get to Redfin!" Please keep changing the broken paradigm of residential real estate!!! Thanks to all of you.

Overall Sean did a great job and we enjoyed working with him. We were unable to negotiate much below the asking price; however, we felt that the asking price was inline with the market value. Iniatally my wife kept asking if we made a mistake by using this service but after the closing she's mentioned on several occasions how happy she is that we went in this direction. I'm very satisfied myself and would certainly recommend Redfin and Sean to friends, family and co-workers. If a buyer knows the market and knows what they want, the Redfin model delivers more value for the buyer than a traditional brokerage.

I will send a separate printed letter to CEO to compliment Sean Valiton.

The experience would have been fantastic except we almost missed our deadline to file the P&S. I kept asking when and what we had to do next, and was never told what the deadline was. When I found a lawyer and sent him the info, he noticed it and we had to do some last minute paperwork to get it done in time. I felt like somebody should have been informing me of necessary actions and deadlines.

I would have liked more guidance on pricing and negotiating.

Mike McGrory accompanied on one home tour (ironically for the home we bought). He was 15 minutes late - bad first impression. Sean Valiton handled things very smoothly and kept in touch - very satisfied with his service.

As a 1st time home buyer I am hesitant to recommend this service. I feel that a person having gone through the traditional home buying service, who better benefit from Redfin - in that, they are more aware of the home buying process and it's not new to them. As a 1st Time home buyer, I felt there could have been more communication on the process of what to expect.

Sean Valiton was fantastic as our Agent. He was extremely responsive and provided us with timely and great guidance along the way. We will definitely recommend him & Redfin to friends & acquaintances of ours who are looking to buy/sell a house.

Overall we were very satisfied with the Redfin service and the money couldn't have come at a better time. We bought a foreclosure and needed to replace the boiler before we could move in. As far as improvement, we could have used more guidance on viewing properties with a listing broker. We did not opt to view properties with a Redfin field agent, because we were viewing so many and there is a limit with Redfin. I called the listing broker initially to see the house we purchased. He was angry when I told him we were using Redfin and would not return Sean Valliton's calls when we first made our offer. I believe he thought we were going to use him as our broker. The web site is amazing! I was blown away with the search options when I started looking and it just got better after your marketing survey. Having worked in marketing, the only thing I would suggest is to change up the customer spotlights from time to time to see fresh content. Also, as a Cambridge/Somerville home buyer, I would love to see more activity in the blog section for this area. There are frequent posts in the other city sections, but Cambridge/Somerville has been very light and I do really enjoy reading the blogs, especially Mike Martin and Cosmo Catalano. Finally, we just love your business model and have already passed the word along to others in the market for a home.

I noticed the listings weren't as up to date as the MLS services provided to me by other agent I was working with (this should be fixed)..otherwise, that was my only real complaint

* I wish it supported Safari. Especially since we have iPhones, it'll be very nice if we could use iPhone to go see houses. I had to print out houses we wanted to see and map it locations. Also, we are both mac users and it'll be really nice to have Safari enable since every time we email each other a link to the site, we had to copy and paste into Fire fox rather than just clicking it. It can be a bit pain when we have many. We didn't wanted to make Fire Fox as default browsers because we like Safari and we use internet for other than surfing RedFin. * It would of been nice to have more detailed instruction on where the Registry of Deed was. It took us 20 minutes to find it at closing, asking 5 different people. Reason why was that Registry of Deed site in Boston is not so good and nothing in there that states that it is inside of court house. That alone would of been helpful! Also, Sean was great and he answered my call nights and weekend (so sorry, Sean!). Since we have very busy schedule, often I called him nights and weekend. He talk to me every day and his humor was professional and fun! He was very detailed oriented and follow up on everything right away. I am type of person who is high strong and like to be on top of things, so for me to find that person worked well, he must be very organized and prompt on every aspect. Sean was great! I felt like seller's agent was not responsive compare to Sean. Sean over shadowed any agent that I've met!!!! I don't know if everyone in RedFin is like Sean, I sure would want Sean again for my agent!!!!!! I was a bit nervous about RedFin's agent, but job description stated that one needs to close at least 20 before s/he can become an agent in RedFin made me feel a bit better. Working with Sean proved that RedFin has great agents!

Getting access to the properties was a huge problem. On two occasions we got into a 'conflict' situation with the seller's agent (they felt like they were representing us).
