Washington Heights, located between Washington Park and the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, is a historic and residential Milwaukee neighborhood with tree-lined boulevards and early-20th-century architecture. The neighborhood’s character concentrates along Vliet Street near N 50th Street, where corner taverns, coffee counters, and small storefronts set a steady, walkable rhythm. BelAir Cantina anchors the strip with a patio scene, while Valentine Coffee Roasters and the Washington Heights Neighborhood Association’s annual Tour of Homes act as local touchstones. Brick bungalows and Tudor Revival houses line the blocks, with deep porches and mature canopy trees shaping the streetscape. Washington Park’s lagoon paths and sports fields add daily green space, and nearby cultural institutions broaden the weekend map.

RT3
Two-Family Residential District
The purpose of the RT3 district is to promote, preserve and protect neighborhoods intended primarily for two-family dwellings with a traditional urban character. This district, much like the RT4 district, allows smaller lots, smaller setbacks and a higher lot coverage than the RT1 and RT2 districts. However, it does not allow the establishment of new, multi-family buildings. The neighborhoods in this district were platted and developed, in large part, in the early 1900s and tend to be more uniform than those of the RT4 district.
