This week there were several high-profile celebrity moves in Montecito and the Hollywood Hills. Katy Perry and Mindy Kaling both bought in the hills, Drew Barrymore listed in Montecito, and Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi bought in Montecito. Read on for more!

Katy PerryKaty Perry House

7302 Mulholland Dr and 7310 Mulholland Dr
List Price: Rumored to be $11,200,000
Beds: 4 and 3
Baths: 3 and 3
Listed by: n/a

Even though Katy Perry’s West Hollywood home still hasn’t sold, The Real Estalker reports that she has decided to buy not one, but two adjoining properties further up in the Hollywood Hills for a combined $11.2 million.

The home at 7302 Mulholland is a mid-century modern built in 1953. It has walls of glass, clean modern lines, and an indoor/outdoor floor plan. A covered breezeway leads to a two-bedroom, one-bath guest house. There’s also a pool that overlooks the gorgeous L.A. skyline. The home was previously owned by Max Weinberg, a former drummer for Bruce Springsteen and band leader for Conan O’Brien. Weinberg purchased it from Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Foner, the parents of Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The home next door is a Spanish-style villa located on 2.33 acres. It has dramatic vaulted ceilings, curved doors and windows, and built-in cabinets in the family room. The master suite has a sitting area, fireplace, and private patio with a view. Outside there’s a pool, cabana and guest house. It was previously owned by Aileen Getty, heiress to oil baron J. Paul Getty. Getty purchased it from another heiress, Sybil Robson Orr, who owns a piece of the Wal-Mart fortune.

Both properties are accessible via a long driveway, offering plenty of privacy for Katy. It’s unknown which home she’ll choose to live in, but based on her the home she’s trying to sell, she seems to prefer old-world styles vs. modern ones, so our guess is that she’ll choose the home at 7310. And when family comes to visit, they’ll have two homes and two guest houses to choose from!

Mindy KalingMindy Kaling House

9309 Sierra Mar Dr
List Price: $1,695,000
Beds: 3
Baths: 3.5
Listed by: Dustin Nicholas, Nicholas Property Group

According to the Huffington Post, Mindy Kaling, from “The Mindy Project” and “The Office,” just purchased a Spanish style home in the Hollywood Hills. The listing remarks indicate that the land is worth more than the home, noting that buyers could “develop or renovate” to create their dream home. The estate was built in 1926 and comes with three bedrooms and 3.5 baths. It is located in the prestigious “Bird Streets,” which overlook the city and are minutes away from the Sunset Strip. Other celebs in the area include Nicky Hilton, Dr. Dre, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

We can’t wait to see what home Mindy develops on the property – though perhaps it was just an investment opportunity. After all, she still owns a Spanish-style bungalow in the heart of Los Angeles.

Drew BarrymoreDrew Barrymore House

1270 Pepper Ln
List Price: $7,500,000
Beds: 7
Baths: 6
Listed by: Suzanne Perkins, Sotheby’s International Realty

According to the Los Angeles Times, Drew Barrymore is trying to sell the Montecito estate where she married her husband, William Kopelman. It’s a pocket listing, which means details and photos haven’t been posted to the MLS. Barrymore purchased the property on June 3, 2010, for $5,705,000. The L.A. Times reports that she’s trying to sell it for $7.5 million, so if she gets her asking price, she stands to make a pretty penny.

The home was built in 1936 and has seven bedrooms, six baths and 6,000 square feet. It sits on two acres of lushly landscaped ground. Barrymore owned the house for two years before she and Kopelman decided to marry on the property. The day before the wedding, Kopelman sold his bachelor pad, a modern West Hollywood condo that has been featured in Elle Décor.

Montecito isn’t known for being a celebrity hotspot, but it does have a few notable residents, including Oprah Winfrey, Al Gore, and director Joel Schumacher. Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi owned a home in the neighborhood in 2006, and it looks like they’re about to return to the area…

2840 Hidden Valley Ln
List Price: $26,500,000
Beds: 6
Baths: 6
Listed by: n/a

According to TMZ, Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi just purchased a $26.5 million dollar mansion in Montecito. The home was never listed on the MLS, but The Real Estalker did some digging and discovered that it was previously owned by legendary interior decorator John Saladino – who sold it to  Tom and Heather Sturgess – who sold it to Ellen and Portia.

The sprawling 10,522 square foot estate sits on 13 acres (split into a 9.9 acre parcel and a 3.8 acre parcel).  The Italianate villa has a rustic and romantic feel, with 14,000 Italian tiles that date to the 18th century, wood beam ceilings, and exposed stone walls. It has six bedrooms, six baths, nine fireplaces and a guest house. Like many celeb homes, the pool overlooks the L.A. skyline. Ellen and Portia own several homes in the area, including a horse ranch in Thousand Oaks and a 7,265 square foot estate in Beverly Hills. With “Arrested Development” coming back, and Ellen’s talk show getting record ratings, it looks like it’ll be a good year for the couple.
