Calling all Nirvana fans – here’s your chance to own a piece of rock history! Kurt Cobain’s mother, Wendy O’Connor, is parting with the childhood home of the legendary rocker, placing it on the market for $500,000. The four bedroom home is located in Aberdeen, WA, southeast of Seattle. The listing photos show a modest, traditional-style home, a testament to Cobain’s humble roots.
Kurt lived in the home from the time he was two years old, until his parents separated when he was nine, and later when he returned to live with his mom from age 16 to 20. His bedroom, which looks like a converted attic, still has Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin logos that he stenciled on the walls, and holes from where he punched the walls as a teen.
To market the listing, Wendy released photos of Kurt in the home, including one of him sitting in his messy bedroom, practicing guitar. Based on the listing price, it appears that the family is hoping for a die-hard Nirvana fan to purchase the place and turn it into a museum. Comparable homes in the area have sold at 1/5 the price. The Redfin Home Value Tool estimates the home to be worth $70,000, if it didn’t have the history that it does. The median list price for homes in Aberdeen is $127,498.
Additional photos of the home are available on the listing page on Redfin.com.
What do you think of the home? Would you visit it if it was turned into a museum?
