Los Angeles residents had to say goodbye to Norma Jean (aka Marilyn Monroe) once again as her 1940s Valley Village bungalow was recently razed to the ground by an area developer.

The quaint, two-unit property was Marilyn Monroe’s house from 1944 to 1945, while she still went by her given name, Norma Jean, according to KTLA News. At the time, she was living with her in-laws from her then-husband, James Dougherty, whom she eventually divorced just before ascending to the throne of the most famous pin-up queen and Hollywood starlet of all time.

The demolition of Monroe’s home has come with quite a bit of controversy. The Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission was set to consider the home for landmark status when the developer tore it down without giving the Commission a standard 30-day notice of his plans. A recently canceled listing on Redfin reveals a mock-up of the developer’s proposed condominium project, which was listed at $999,999 as of June 15, 2015.

But we did a little digging in our vast real estate archives and found a listing for the property from 2012 that shows the home in what appears to be its original condition. We can just picture Norma Jean, likely still a brunette, coming through the adorable white picket fence from a long day’s work at what was probably a very normal day job.

Take a look at the home where one of Hollywood’s most celebrated starlets entered as the normal Norma Jean and emerged as the extraordinary Miss Marilyn Monroe.
