Today at the Facebook f8 Conference, Facebook Message Dialog and App Links were unveiled, and I’m excited to announce that Redfin will be incorporating both into the Redfin iPhone app.
What this means for Redfin customers is that you will soon get the option to share home listings via Facebook Messenger directly from the Redfin iPhone app. Also, anyone who is using the Facebook app and clicks on a Redfin link will be redirected to the Redfin app instead of to Redfin.com for a richer native mobile experience.

A home is typically the biggest purchase you’ll make in your life — and making that decision requires some support from family and friends! In fact, a recent survey on Redfin.com of 449 people* found that 93 percent of people interested in sharing home listing pages did so via Facebook, with over half (58%) of sharers saying they did so because they wanted their “family and friends’ opinion on such an important decision.” Redfin’s integration with Facebook Messenger allows people to easily and privately share and discuss listings, right from within our app. Here’s how it works:
Facebook App Links:
Simply put, when you are on your phone in the Facebook app and click on a Redfin link, it takes you to the Redfin app for a more seamless experience. This is obviously great for our customers and it solves a frustrating development problem that my team — and every other mobile developer — has faced over the years.
The Facebook Message Dialog and App Linking experiences will be available via the Redfin iPhone app by June. Please visit redfindevelop.wpengine.com/mobile to download and use the iPhone app today, and to instantly receive the update when available. *For the survey, Redfin polled 449 active website users between March 21 and March 24, 2014.
