College recruiting

Redfin has quadrupled in size over the past few months, which isn’t hard to do when you start small. Now we’re hitting the college campuses in search of brilliant people. This worked well for us at my previous venture, Plumtree, where we set out to get the best engineers from Stanford and Berkeley. We grew up together, and many of us are still good friends: after Plumtree’s offering, one became a documentary film-maker, another an ecologist and many of the rest are still there, now in leadership positions. It would be nice if at Redfin we could put together a crew like that again. And I bet we can: there are always people out there who want to change something, which is just what Redfin has set out to do.
