Redfin director Yong Huang was featured in an AWS case study today, discussing that “when we solve the infrastructure problem, we can actually dream a little bigger.” Redfin runs a large portion of our infrastructure on AWS, including using Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Kinesis, and Amazon EC2 to operate our website, big-data analytics operations, and to run our continuous integration builds.
One of Redfin’s biggest AWS success stories has been the Redfin Estimate, which is calculated using EMR , then stored in DynamoDB, and retrieved by our webservers and served to our customers. By leveraging the AWS cloud infrastructure, we can serve the Redfin Estimate in a mean time of 39ms, which is a huge success for us, as we continue to focus on speed.
The median time is pretty good too, usually 20-30ms
