I have a lot fun at my job. As the lifestyle public relations and editorial content manager at Redfin, I get to come up with story ideas for our blog that I think will be interesting to read. That includes a series of posts about dream homes – which is what you are reading now!
Our assignment: choose any home on the market that you would consider your dream home, regardless of the price, and blog about it. That’s right, I get paid to browse through amazing homes on Redfin.com. It’s a rough life!
If I had endless amounts of money and could live anywhere, it would be in this gorgeous Georgian-style mansion located slightly north of Seattle, on the market for $4.995 million. I considered choosing this amazing modern mansion on Maui, but as much as I love the island life, I’m a Seattle girl at heart and can’t imagine living anywhere else. After browsing through all the available Seattle waterfront homes, this one stole my heart.
The home sits on more than two lushly landscaped acres, with gorgeous gardens, fountains and ponds. My dad is a landscape architect and could do wonders with this land.
I love all the french doors and windows that look out into the backyard and the Puget Sound. They make the home seem like it’s in the middle of nowhere, with no neighbors in sight.
The kitchen is to die for. It might actually inspire me to cook something more than Trader Joe’s frozen food.
My husband would love the sound stage in the basement, where he could play music with his buddies. And I’d love that it’s soundproof. (I hope he’s not reading this).
I’d love to host a black-tie Oscars party in the giant home theater. I’d Pinterest the crap out of that thing. We’d have glitter covered envelopes, chocolate covered strawberries that look like tuxedos, adorably decorated champagne flutes… the works.
It’s rare to find a home with a pool in Seattle (the city definitely didn’t make Redfin’s list of best places to throw a pool party), so we’d be very popular with a pool like this during the brief but beautiful Seattle summer.
Most of all, I’d love relaxing on the patio, watching the sun set over the Olympic Mountains.
Speaking of mountains… the home is a short drive to Shilshole Marina, where I’d store my private yacht, which I would take up to my second dream home, located on this amazing piece of property on Blakely Island. It looks like a private island (even though technically it’s not), and would be worth every penny of the $18.5 million price tag. After all, half the fun of living in Seattle is enjoying the wilderness around it!
If you happen to have $23 million in the bank and want to buy these homes (and dash all of my dreams), a Redfin real estate agent can take you on a tour of them. But if that happens, I insist on being invited to your housewarming party, as a finder’s fee, of course.
