Warren Buffett has an eye for investing. The “Oracle of Omaha” has made billions of dollars on profitable investments, and this Laguna Beach getaway is no exception. Buffet purchased the property back in 1971 for $150,000, and it’s now on the market for $11 million!
“Buffett must have had a special attachment to the home to keep it for so long,” said Redfin real estate agent Alec Traub. “The style of home and the interior decor fit Buffett’s relatively low-key lifestyle, considering he’s a billionaire. It’s much more subdued than the over-the-top mansions you’ll find on ‘Billionaires Beach’ in Malibu.”
At nearly 3,600-square-feet, the home gives a new meaning to California dreaming. The six bedroom, seven bath property boasts picturesque views of the world famous Emerald Bay, along with an inviting deck ideal for quaint family gatherings.
Buffett’s sense of nostalgia is evident in the home’s decor. The unique choice of a large See’s Candy cutout in the living room may be a call out to his 1972 purchase of the established candy company.
This bathroom may also be an homage to the past. It appears to be covered in old copies of The New Yorker, which could either be a reflection of the billionaire’s admiration for the publication or an inexpensive wallpaper alternative (Buffett is known for his thriftiness). Either way the decor is distinct; instead of lavish adornments, each room is filled with cozy comforts.
