One of the most affordable ways to do this \u2013 without replacing your roof \u2013 is to paint your shingles a light color. 2. Place an awning or shade on the exterior of your house <\/b>– This is important especially over east, south, and west-facing windows if there\u2019s no landscaping to provide natural shade.
