Lake Austin is the perfect summer destination, but you may not know about Motzart\u2019s on the Lake. During the holidays they have a light show at their coffee shop which rests on Lake Austin. Grab your hot cocoa and bundle up to watch the light show. During other seasons, Mozarts Coffee Roasters is situated on the Lake Austin waterfront, and features live music, delicious coffee, and homemade bakery goods. This is a fun thing to do in Austin that you won\u2019t want to miss.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Grab a bowl of noodles at Tan My or Kome<\/span><\/h2>\n

When the weather gets cold and chilly, who doesn\u2019t love cozying up to a warm bowl of soup?<\/span><\/p>\n

Austin Brewery Tours<\/span><\/a>, a local beer bus tour shares, \u201cJudging by the crowds, eating a hot bowl of noodles on a cold winter day, is not only my favorite thing to do but Austin\u2019s favorite as well. My go-to pho place is Tan My because no one does broth better. If it\u2019s a ramen day, you will find me at Kome eating their chicken broth-based ramen.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Go ice skating at Ice Rodeo<\/span><\/h2>\n

Going ice skating at Ice Rodeo is a top thing to do in Austin for all ages \u2013 whether that be with family, friends, or a date.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first year the Four Seasons Austin launched their ice skating rink, Ice Rodeo,\u201d shares <\/span>Pearl Events Austin<\/span><\/a>, a local event planning group. \u201cThey turned their pool into a rink, and you can skate with Town Lake in the background. They also offer cabins that you can rent and have cocktails and smores.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Grab a bite at Barley Swine<\/span><\/h2>\n

Barley Swine is an American restaurant that serves small plates and a handful of tasty beers.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the winter weather doesn\u2019t allow outdoor activities like biking, we like to check out restaurants and breweries all around Austin. Barley Swine is one of our favorite restaurants in town. If you want a unique and flavorful meal in a swanky, hip spot, this gastropub will not disappoint,\u201d says <\/span>Bike and Brew Texas<\/span><\/a>, an Austin-based bike and brew tour.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Visit Fareground at One Eleven Congress<\/span><\/h2>\n

Fareground is Austin\u2019s first food hall which offers different types of cuisines such as Chinese, French, and Israeli foods.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOne of my favorite things to visit is the Fareground at One Eleven Congress. You can grab a snack, sit on the lawn and listen to music, or have a delicious meal in the food hall from some of Austin\u2019s finest local restaurants,\u201d shares Austin-based wedding planning company <\/span>Wedding Day Girl<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Check out \u201cFree Week\u201d by the Red River Cultural District<\/span><\/h2>\n

Started in 2003, \u201cFree Week\u201d puts on free live music and comedy events and is a top thing to do in Austin.<\/span><\/p>\n

Blue Owl Brewing<\/span><\/a>, which brews a local favorite sour beer in Austin, notes, \u201cDuring the first week of January, the Red River Cultural District puts on an event called \u2018Free Week.\u2019 There are hundreds of shows along the whole street at different venues all for free. This has much more of the \u2018old Austin\u2019 vibe where it\u2019s more about the music and not about the big sponsors.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

7. View the Johnson City Lights<\/span><\/h2>\n

A city outside of Austin, <\/span>Johnson City, TX<\/span><\/a> puts on a spectacular light show with over 2 million lights that shouldn\u2019t be missed.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Johnson City Lights are a must-do on my Christmas list every year,\u201d raves <\/span>Texas Tipsy Tours<\/span><\/a>, a unique holiday city tour experience. You can also take a tour which features a private tour of Johnson City Lights, wine tasting at Fall Creek Vineyards, and a BBQ dinner at Salt Lick BBQ. This is the ultimate date-night experience, girl\u2019s night, or family event.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

8. Grab biscuits and jam at Confituras\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Confituras is a community-driven spot in <\/span>South Austin<\/span><\/a> where the culinary traditions of preserving locally-grown fruit lives on.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn the springtime, one of my favorite spots is the charming biscuits & jam shop Confituras,\u201d shares food business consultants <\/span>Launch Point Culinary<\/span><\/a>. \u201cThe artisan-made seasonal jams are just divine, especially when they are served alongside their house-made biscuits consisting of layers of buttery heaven.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There is also always a beautiful cake of the week on the counter and Texas-grown farm-fresh flowers to pick up at the restaurant.<\/span><\/p>\n

9. Watch the sunset on Mount Bonnell<\/span><\/h2>\n

Also known as Covert Park, Mount Bonnell provides stunning views of Austin, Lake Austin, and surrounding hills.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis incredible viewpoint is the highest point in Austin, standing around 775 feet above sea level. It\u2019s a popular tourist destination and provides incredible views of the city below. 10. Get a custom cowboy hat at Maufrais\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Maufrais is a specialist shop selling homemade goods such as candles, leather jackets, and cowboy hats, and is the perfect fun thing to do in Austin if you\u2019re in the mood to purchase something unique and custom for you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lifestyle blogger Chloe of <\/span>Moon River<\/span><\/a> says, \u201cOne of my favorite spring things in Austin is shopping for a custom cowboy hat at Maufrais on South Congress. The craftsmanship of each hat is incredible, and the Maufrais team makes the process interactive. 15. Go kayaking or paddle boarding at Lady Bird Lake<\/span><\/h2>\n

During the summer months Austin gets pretty hot, so it\u2019s best to be out on the water or sipping a nice cold drink.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cA great way to soak up the sun is to go kayaking or paddle boarding on Lady Bird Lake, which is the river that runs along downtown. If I want a night to myself, I sit at the bar and read while I eat, or if I have friends in town, we\u2019ll sit at a table and share dishes. You really can\u2019t go wrong with anything on the menu, and the drinks are by far consistently the best in town. The vibe is great, the servers are kind and knowledgeable, and the food is local.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

22. Take a day trip to a local pumpkin patch\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Who doesn\u2019t like taking a day trip to a local farm to pick fresh produce and bring home some pumpkins?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAustin has plenty of pumpkin patches and farms in the surrounding area. Many of them allow you to pick your own veggies and fruits or offer a variety of activities,\u201d shares <\/span>Eat Well.
