How we measure the hottest cities<\/span><\/h2>\n

To determine the \u201chottest\u201d cities, <\/span>we ranked U.S. cities with populations over 100,000 based on their average summer temperature<\/b>. This way, we account for cities with hotter summers and cooler winters, rather than favoring tropical places that are warm year-round. We also included each city\u2019s average annual temperature, though it didn\u2019t factor into the rankings.<\/span><\/p>\n
