This way, we account for metros with hotter summers and cooler winters, rather than favoring tropical places that are warm year-round. We also included each metro\u2019s <\/span><b>average annual temperature<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, though it didn\u2019t factor into the rankings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An <\/span><b>average summer temperature<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> combines a city&#8217;s average daily high and low temperatures from June-August. An <\/span><b>average annual temperature<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> combines a city&#8217;s average daily high and low temperatures from January-December.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncei.noaa.gov\/access\/us-climate-normals\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Data<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> comes from the National Centers for Environmental Information (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncei.noaa.gov\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NCEI<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and its parent administration, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.noaa.gov\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NOAA<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).
