href=\"http:\/\/seattle.startupweekend.org\/\">Seattle<\/a> Startup <a href=\"http:\/\/startupweekend.org\/\">Weekend<\/a>, 54 hours (plus a marginal amount of sleep) was a time crunch in the startup sufficient to hammer out working software, crisp designs, and concise business plans as teams vied for prizes and dreams of entrepreneurial adventure and glory.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1680\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1680\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Team IDapi.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The three days of programming and strategic planning kicked off with 44 rapid fire pitches of ideas ranging from an app to help people stick to resolutions, to a website devoted to the glorious sport of bass fishing.\u00a0 Given the birth of 500,000 US startups per month, the palpable electricity and prospect of rising above the rest to create the next \u201cbig thing\u201d led to the formation of 11 teams.\u00a0 Four Redfin interns\u2014 the Redfinterns if you will\u2014led a team called IDapi that worked on providing a developer friendly API for companies to write background checks.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday featured insights from Redfin\u2019s own CEO Glenn Kelman, who expounded on the necessity of passion, forging on through the nitty gritty of getting a business of the ground and how \u201cthe fundamental problem at a startup is an existential problem.\u00a0 With every keystroke, you have to ask yourself: \u2018If I build this, will people even care?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1679\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1679\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/blog\/devblog\/2013\/06\/redfin-hosts-seattle-startup-weekend-2013.html\/dv6uwogqemyuhye64h5rq89fpedzgi12nhlwlfuchvgw2dsciiy3fae5cp8uxp_w9ww1600\" rel=\"attachment \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1679\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Red Ride claims first.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The teams certainly took Glenn\u2019s advice to heart, and after a grueling weekend and final presentations, a panel of renowned venture capitalist judges were blown away by first place <b>Red Ride<\/b>, a car service aggregator that aimed to utilize Uber, Lift, and Sidecar\u2019s APIs in order to tell users which rideshare service had the closest car to a user.<\/p>\n<p>In second was <strong>Wandering Chef<\/strong>, which formed a business plan for <a href=\"http:\/\/seattletimes.com\/html\/restaurants\/2017868955_mondaydinners30.html\">pop-up restaurants<\/a>, which feature up and coming chefs that temporarily reside in established restaurants for increased publicity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Telecorder<\/strong> rounded out the trio with a web application that allows users to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.appleiphonereview.com\/iphone-tutorials\/how-to-erase-a-voicemail-recording-youre-not-happy-with\/\">record and refine voicemail messages<\/a> online before directly dropping them into a recipient\u2019s voice mailbox, remedying the problem of awkward voicemails.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1677\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1677\" style=\"width: 191px\"
