As we head into summer, here are a few thoughts to consider:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Homes_For_Sale_2014.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25053\" src=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Homes_For_Sale_2014.jpg\" alt=\"Homes_For_Sale_2014\" width=\"579\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Homes_For_Sale_2014.jpg 579w, https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Homes_For_Sale_2014-300x176.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 579px) 100vw, 579px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There are more homes for sale in 2014, with inventory <a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/research\/reports\/real-time-price-tracker\">up 9 percent<\/a>. Sellers are working harder to get their homes fixed up, so some of these places look pretty good.<\/li>\n<li>And you have a better chance of being able to buy one, with bidding wars down <a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/research\/reports\/real-time-bidding-wars\">by double digits<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>More good news, prices have stopped going up so quickly.\u00a0 We predict prices to increase by just 6 percent in 2014, making it much easier for you to find a good deal on a home than when prices surged by 13 percent last year.<\/li>\n<li>And mortgage rates are at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freddiemac.com\/pmms\/\">4.1 percent,<\/a> less than half the 30-year historical average of 8.7 percent; for a $500,000 house, this is worth more than $500 a month in mortgage payments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What Redfin Agents are seeing is homebuyers who have become more disciplined than before, still pouncing on the A+ homes in the best school districts, but being more careful with the up-and-comers.<br \/>\nIf you haven&#8217;t been on Redfin much in 2014, it\u2019s just a whole new market.
