There were fewer bidding wars over homes, but still plenty of competition; our agents witnessed more than a few broken hearts when their clients\u2019 offers were beat by investors who <a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/blog\/2014\/05\/cash-is-still-king-in-home-buying-2.html\">paid all cash<\/a>.\u00a0In 2014,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/blog\/2014\/11\/redfin-market-tracker-october-2014.html\">October<\/a>\u00a0was the only month during which we saw more homes sold than in 2013.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It&#8217;s true that real estate is a volatile industry, and the success of real estate brokerages is tied to the housing market overall. Redfin, however, has taken market share at a consistent rate year after year; we\u2019ve grown even when the market hasn\u2019t, and our growth has outpaced the market overall.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To date, Redfin real estate agents have served more than 30,000 clients, saving them more than $200 million in real estate fees. And we\u2019d like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who has worked with us; it has been our pleasure.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">And while the housing market might fluctuate, our purpose does not. Since the beginning, our mission has been to reinvent real estate in the consumer\u2019s favor. Our engineering team has worked tirelessly to launch new and unique features on our app and website that make the process easier for every homebuyer and seller.<\/p>\n<h2>A Few Technology Highlights from 2014<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-24976 alignright\" style=\"margin-top: 20px;margin-bottom: 20px\" alt=\"HotHomesIcon3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/HotHomesIcon31.jpg\" width=\"234\" height=\"148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/HotHomesIcon31.jpg 390w, https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/HotHomesIcon31-300x190.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 234px) 100vw, 234px\" \/>We kicked off the year by adding the ability to search for <a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/blog\/2014\/03\/thousands-more-new-construction-homes-now-searchable-on-redfin.html\">new construction homes<\/a> on Redfin.com<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In March, we launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/blog\/2014\/03\/open-house-schedule.html\">Redfin Open House Schedule<\/a>, which helps people plan a weekend of open house visits by allowing them to save a list of upcoming open houses under their profile.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In June, we launched <a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/redfin-hot-homes.html\">Redfin Hot Homes<\/a>, a website feature that informs house hunters if a home is likely to sell in two weeks or less.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">And we didn\u2019t forget about sellers. In August, we launched <a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/selling-your-home-with-redfin-home-dashboard.html\">Redfin Home Dashboard<\/a>, an online tool that gives people who sell their home with a Redfin agent real-time data on how many people are viewing their property online, what their Redfin agent is doing to sell their home and what the next steps are in the selling process.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We also launched <a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/introducing-redfin-3d-walkthrough.html\">Redfin 3D Walkthrough<\/a>, an online feature that provides a high-resolution, interactive view from every angle inside a home, giving house hunters an up-close-and-personal look at homes listed with Redfin.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">And that\u2019s just the desktop experience! We also made a number of updates to our apps for <a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/blog\/2014\/05\/redfin-launches-completely-redesigned-iphone-app.html\">iPhones and iPads<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/blog\/2014\/04\/redfin-updates-android-real-estate-app.html\">Android phones<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/blog\/2014\/07\/redfin-android-tablet-app.html\"> Android tablets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Redfin\u2019s Customer-First Service Launched in 18 Markets Across the U.S.<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Redfin real estate agents are now available to serve href=\"https:\/\/redfin.com\/blog\/2014\/09\/what-do-you-want-to-be-when-you-grow-up.html\">Redfin Agent Development<\/a> program to seven additional locations, offering a paid 18-month apprenticeship that will help participants get their real estate license and learn how to become a Redfin agent.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a
