Most of Redfin.com\u2019s most-viewed listings have two things in common: They\u2019re located in tech hubs, and they\u2019re expensive.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Seven of Redfin.com’s 10 most-viewed home listings in January were in the Bay Area, specifically the East Bay and neighborhoods near San Jose, and two were in Seattle\u2019s eastside suburbs. One was in the Los Angeles neighborhood of the Pacific Palisades, which attracted a lot of attention in January due to the <\/span>devastating wildfires<\/span><\/a> that swept through the area.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nine of the 10 most-viewed listings are priced at more than $1 million, and five are priced at more than $2 million. That\u2019s well over the median U.S. home-sale price of roughly <\/span>$430,000<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are the 10 most-viewed listings on Redfin.com in January:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  4. 14638 SE 22nd St., Bellevue, WA 98007<\/span><\/a>: Listed for $1,050,000<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. 1051 Vista Grande Dr., Pacific Palisades, CA 90272<\/span><\/a>: Listed for $24,500,000<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. 553 San Luis Ave., Los Altos, CA 94024<\/span><\/a>: Listed for $3,375,000<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. 1336 Petal Way, San Jose, CA 95129<\/span><\/a>: Listed for $2,395,000<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. 1424 172nd Pl. NE, Bellevue, WA 98008<\/span><\/a>: Listed for $1,299,950<\/span><\/li>\n
  9. 28 Alma Ct., Los Altos, CA 94022<\/span><\/a>: Listed for $4,800,000<\/span><\/li>\n

    There are several possible reasons Silicon Valley and the Seattle area dominate the list of most popular listings. Redfin agents in the Bay Area and Seattle report that although inventory is improving, there\u2019s still a scarcity of desirable homes that don\u2019t require renovation. That results in more attention for the limited number of attractive listings\u2013especially when they\u2019re relatively affordable, which in those places might mean they\u2019re listed for $1.5 million or so.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u201cAny move-in ready home located between San Francisco and San Jose that\u2019s priced between $1 million and $3 million and has at least three bedrooms and two bathrooms is flying off the shelves, especially if it\u2019s in a desirable school district,\u201d <\/span>\u00a0said <\/span>Josh Felder<\/span><\/a>, a Redfin Premier agent in the Bay Area<\/span>. \u201cEven homes priced between $3 million and $5+ million are getting multiple offers if they\u2019re updated and in a hot neighborhood. That\u2019s because there are so few options and so many well-qualified buyers. It’s business as usual on the San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

    Additionally, major tech employers are demanding workers return to the office, which could be bringing high homebuying demand to those areas. Amazon\u2019s full-time return-to-office mandate took effect in January, with roughly <\/span>12,000 workers<\/span><\/a> expected to return to the company\u2019s Bellevue office alone. It\u2019s a similar story in the Bay Area; two of the most-viewed listings are in Los Altos, near one of <\/span>Tesla\u2019s main offices<\/span><\/a>, and one is in Palo Alto, near Meta\u2019s headquarters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Finally, it\u2019s worth noting that those West Coast areas are both among the 15 <\/span>most populous<\/span><\/a> U.S. metro areas\u2014meaning listings naturally attract a lot of eyes\u2014and they\u2019re both among the seven <\/span>highest-income<\/span><\/a> metro areas in the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
