The house at <\/span>84 Wyona Ave in Selden<\/span><\/a> went on the market about a month ago with a listing price of $329,900. The house was built in 1930 and is 446 square feet. It is about 10 feet wide and 37 feet long and has a small kitchen, dining room, living area and full bathroom. <\/span><\/p>\n

It sits on a lot that is 22 by 100 feet and has a backyard shed. The tiny home has a basement with two open areas where one room can be converted into a half bath with laundry, according to the listing description. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI went down as low as I could as far as price goes. I know [the offer] will come. We\u2019re listening to all offers,\u201d Denise Beckman, a licensed associate broker at HomeSmart Dynamic Realty, told Redfin News.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although people on social media are stating their surprise at how high the listing price is considering the tiny home doesn\u2019t have any bedrooms, Beckman said she has been blown away by the attention in general. <\/span><\/p>\n

Beckman said the seller of the house originally bought it back in 2002 and had it rented out until about 11 years ago, when he and his wife moved in. They renovated it by upgrading the heating, electrical, roof and bathroom. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf you have vision and you\u2019re single or newly married, it\u2019s a great place to start and start building that equity for your future and it\u2019s very hard for Long Islanders to do that right now,\u201d she added. <\/span><\/p>\n

Redfin agents said that although people on social media might be surprised by the tiny home\u2019s high price, it makes sense because it is in a high-priced area and a commuter-friendly neighborhood.<\/span><\/p>\n

Selden is part of the town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County. The county is known as the home of The Hamptons, one of the most affluent neighborhoods in the U.S.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>median sale price<\/span><\/a> of a home in Suffolk County was $660,000 in March and has remained the same since last year. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLong Island is different from the nationwide market. We don\u2019t have enough supply for the demand,\u201d said Redfin agent <\/span>Mohamed Elbaroudy<\/span><\/a>. There\u2019s been a lot of people moving into Long Island since Covid and that hasn\u2019t stopped. People realized they can get a better quality of life and better schools and still have a good commute to the city.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Panagiota “Peggy” Papazaharias<\/span><\/a>, a Redfin agent, said this property works as a starter home for someone looking to get into the neighborhood while still being close to New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSelden is close to a lot of shopping, not too far from the city and Long Island Rail Road\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n
