The average <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">daily <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rate dropped to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mortgagenewsdaily.com\/mortgage-rates\/30-year-fixed\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6.54%<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on Wednesday from 6.75% a month earlier in the wake of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/06\/15\/treasury-yields-peace-deal-investor-fears-interest-rates.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">newly announced<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> peace deal with Iran.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>High costs are pricing many would-be homebuyers out of the market, and widespread economic uncertainty is causing others to think twice before making a major purchase. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That has pushed pending home sales down 0.6% week over week, the fifth straight week of declines.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Some prospective sellers are backing off, too, as they notice dwindling demand. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New listings fell 0.4% week over week, and the total number of homes for sale fell 0.1%.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With hundreds of thousands <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/news\/buyers-vs-sellers-may-2026\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more home sellers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> than buyers nationwide, Redfin agents are advising sellers to price competitively. \u201cA lot of sellers want to list higher than they should, and my biggest struggle is getting them to price with the market\u2013or just below the market, if they want to create a frenzy,\u201d said <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dawnkanehomes.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dawn Kane<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a Redfin Premier agent in Maryland and Pennsylvania. \u201cHomes that just hit the market are typically the most popular, so pricing high and letting a home sit can stigmatize a listing.
