They also increased in Sacramento and St. Louis, both up 9.3%.<\/i><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The number of Canada-based Redfin.com users searching for U.S. homes to buy or rent fell 15.3% year over year in June. The data is based on unique users, meaning each person who viewed U.S. listings on Redfin.com or the Redfin app during a given month is counted once.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Redfin search data is an early indicator of housing demand, but searches do not necessarily result in moves or completed home purchases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCanada\u2019s economy is starting to recover after a weak start to the year, but uncertainty around trade, jobs, the domestic housing market and inflation is still prompting many Canadians to think twice about making a major purchase,\u201d said Chen Zhao, Redfin\u2019s head of economics research. \u201cBuying a home in another country is a particularly big financial commitment, so it makes sense that some Canadians are putting those plans on hold.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Canadian Demand Is Falling in 45 of the 50 Largest U.S. Metros<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canada-based home searches declined from a year earlier in 45 of the 50 most populous U.S. metros.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The biggest decline was in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/city\/16657\/TX\/San-Antonio\">San Antonio<\/a>, where Canada-based searches dropped 51.8% year over year. Canada-based searches fell 48.6% in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/city\/30818\/TX\/Austin\/housing-market\">Austin<\/a>, 33.4% in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/county\/1974\/NY\/Nassau-County\/housing-market\">Nassau County<\/a>, NY, 32.5% in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/city\/8903\/TX\/Houston\/housing-market\">Houston<\/a> and 29.3% in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/city\/4145\/OH\/Cleveland\/housing-market\">Cleveland<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canada-based searches increased in five metros. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/city\/35751\/MO\/Kansas-City\/housing-market\">Kansas City<\/a> posted the largest gain, with home searches originating in Canada rising 17.6% year over year, followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/city\/13201\/NJ\/New-Brunswick\/housing-market\">New Brunswick<\/a>, NJ (11.6%), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/city\/13415\/TN\/Nashville\/housing-market\">Nashville<\/a> (9.4%), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redfin.com\/city\/16409\/CA\/Sacramento\/housing-market\">Sacramento<\/a>
