A masterpiece in the Berkeley Hills, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright protégé, Daniel Liebermann. The radial design sits into the hill, with the eastern expanse featuring a wrap around balcony showcasing Golden Gate Bridge, Bay and San Francisco views. Architecturally, the home is full of one-of-a-kind juxtapositions enhancing the interplay of materials, space, and light. Sliding glass walls, cutouts for indoor/outdoor water features, and exposed natural elements like stone slate fireplaces, wood beams, and brick. Extensive terracing, patios, and level gardens capture the warmth of the East Bay with many venues for indoor-outdoor living. The residence, centered around the radial core, has complete privacy while maintaining stunning panoramic views and all-day natural light. The property adjoins with 1133 Cragmont, which is included with the sale.

Designed by famed Mid Century Master Daniel Lieberman in conjunction with fellow Wright student and biographer Donald Hoppen, 150 Bret Harte Road embodies many of the signature elements of Lieberman’s work, including the stunning and distinctive radial design, the use of recycled and sustainable local materials, hand hammered copper and cast epoxy sculptural elements, custom stone and brickwork, and a meticulously thoughtful orientation to the topography and environment of the site itself. Originally built for Tomak Ulatowski and family, this extraordinary structure has been lovingly maintained and carefully updated and preserved while acknowledging the significance of the original design. 150 Bret Harte Road features unparalleled privacy, stunning natural light, huge panoramic views of the bay and Golden Gate, and a truly one of a kind, hand crafted character which cannot be duplicated. Sale includes the undeveloped parcel at 1133 Cragmont ave, plus original blueprints to the home.

Single Family Residential District - Hillside Overlay Zone
The purpose of the Single-Family Residential (R-1) district is to: Recognize and protect the existing pattern of development in the low-density, single-family residential areas of the city consistent with the General Plan; Make housing available for persons who desire detached housing and a relatively large amount of usable open space; Protect adjacent properties from unreasonable obstruction of light and air; and Permit community facilities such as religious assembly uses, schools, parks, and libraries which serve the local population and are not detrimental to the immediate neighborhood.; The purpose of the Hillside (H) overlay zone is to: implement General Plan policies for hillside development; protect the safety and health of residents where steep topography, unusual street conditions and proximity to the wildland-urban interface create severe risk from wildfire; protect the character of Berkeley's hillside areas and their immediate environs; give reasonable protection to views yet allow appropriate development of all property; and allow modifications in standard setback and height requirements when justified because of steep topography, irregular lot pattern, unusual street conditions, or other special aspects of the hillside areas.
