About Beach Hill Historic
District
Beach Hill Historic District, located between the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Downtown Santa Cruz, is a historic and coastal Santa Cruz neighborhood with Victorian-era cottages and bluff-top ocean views. The neighborhood’s character concentrates around West Cliff Drive at Bay Street, where surf lookouts, walkers, and the salt-air promenade set the daily rhythm. Painted ladies, Craftsman bungalows, and tidy gardens line the sloping streets above Main Beach. The Santa Cruz Wharf and the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum act as local touchstones for shoreline culture. The Boardwalk’s classic rides and arcade lights add a playful edge without overpowering the residential feel. Footpaths and stairways stitch the bluff to the sand and the river mouth.
