Scitico, located between Hazardville Center and the Connecticut River, is a residential and semi-rural Hazardville neighborhood with wooded backroads and broad river-meadow views. The neighborhood’s character concentrates around the junction of Scitico Road and Enfield Street, where small storefronts, service counters, and everyday errands set a steady, local rhythm. Housing leans toward mid-century capes and ranches alongside older farm parcels, with long driveways and stone walls marking the landscape. The Scantic River corridor shapes the geography with marshy edges, footpaths, and seasonal birdlife. Scantic River State Park and the Scantic River Wildlife Management Area anchor outdoor time close to home. For local staples, The Powder Mill Barn and the Enfield Historical Society’s Old Town Hall Museum add a clear sense of place.

In 2021 this 1850 built Enfield Old Scitico Schoolhouse was fully remodeled into a gorgeous 4 bed, 2.5 bath, 2,187sqft, home. Renovations included; taking the home down to the original Shakers Period built framework and fully insulating the home. Adding new sheetrock, new trim-work, windows, and new interior and exterior doors. Home was connected to city sewers, and reconnected to city water. Got new 2 zone forced hot air propane heating system, with new central AC, new electric hot water system, all new electrical and plumbing systems and fixtures. Kitchen got new island, granite counter tops, all new shaker style cabinet doors, wood look vinyl plank flooring and some appliances. We salvaged a good deal of the old wide plank wainscoting in the living room and office, and wainscoting in 2nd floor 2nd bedroom, laundry room and stairs. We added a set of double French doors, an office, laundry room, and mudroom. We gave this home a nice open feel with nearly 9ft ceilings throughout most of the home. The primary bedroom has its own full bath and walk-in closet, The home just glistens from the new ceiling light LED cans and room light fixtures reflecting their light off the restored/new gleaming floors. This home is not in a Historical district, however the deed does carry a few historic type restrictions pertinent to the home's exterior, that will carry with sale. This 1850 schoolhouse is now ready to be a 2022 home. Listing agent is managing member of the LLC that owns property
The deed restrictions are basically as follows; the home's exterior siding must remain white cedar wood planking, as it is now. The windows must stay the 6/6 type with a trim color of either white, black, or green (currently in black). The restored cupola will soon be reinstalled on the top front portion of the home’s roof and must remain with the house, and a section of the old metal exterior staircase is to remain with the house as well. The cupola will be going back up shortly and the staircase will be used for access into the basement's crawl space section. We had an old school bell restored, its not original to the property, but it will make a very nice historic accent once. The bell will be made non-operational, so for show only, but its presence is not required on the deed. Please see actual deed/Town records for the specific details and wording.
