Built by Howard Adt , the owner of Geometric Tool Company of Westville, CT, the home was set on 40 acres of property and used as a summer retreat for Howard, his wife Henrietta and their daughter Ruth. Ruth Adt was one of the first women admitted to the Yale School of Art. Ruth sailed to Europe and brought back handmade tiles from Germany and installed them around the fireplace in the lower room, which she used as her art studio and which still exists in the home.
