About CARADCO Lofts
Located on the second and third floors of the Schmid Innovation Center, the CARADCO Lofts were the first apartment lofts in the Historic Millwork District. The former CARADCO Building was rehabilitated and opened in the fall of 2012. The Carr, Adams, & Collier Company (CARADCO) Main Plant Building is a former millwork factory in what was the nation's largest window and door manufacturing district. CARADCO occupies an entire city block, was built between 1880 and 1906, and is adjacent to Dubuque's downtown, walkable, working class neighborhoods. Made up of 72 apartments, along with retail, restaurants, and commercial entities in the Schmid Innovation Center, the CARADCO Lofts offer a unique, vibrant living experience.

About Millwork
District
Millwork District, located between Downtown Dubuque and the Historic Old Main District, is a former industrial and mixed-use Dubuque neighborhood with brick warehouses and a design-forward streetscape. The neighborhood’s character concentrates around Jackson Street near 11th Street, where studios, coffee counters, and small galleries animate the sidewalks. Iconic anchors include the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, the Five Flags Center, and the Dubuque Museum of Art. Converted mill buildings and new infill create a clean-lined, loft-like architectural rhythm. The flat grid makes walking and biking feel natural, with the riverfront a short stretch away. Public art and maker culture give the blocks a quietly energetic cadence.
