Zoning

R1.5

Single-Family Residential District

It is the intent of these districts to provide for single-family detached residential development in Highland Township at varying densities which are consistent with the existing and desirable future pattern of development in the Township. It is the goal of the Township to protect single-family residential development from the encroachment of incompatible land uses. The Residential R-3, R-1.5 and LV Zoning Districts are distinguished by varying residential densities to accommodate a wide range of existing and future residential preferences in the Township.; The R-3 and R-1.5 Districts are intended for lower density rural residential development. The R-3 and R-1.5 Districts are designated in the northern, western and southern portions of the Township, consistent with the Township Master Plan. Restricting these areas to lower density use will help ensure that the majority of future development occurs in the central portion of the Township, where public services can be more economically provided.
