Restricted Multifamily District

By virtue of its location within the comprehensive land development plans for the City of Greenville and surrounding Washington County planning area of certain areas of land, both developed and undeveloped, with peculiar characteristics such as present moderate density multifamily dwelling units, proximity to commercial developments or proximity to major streets, and because of a probable continued demand for such dwelling accommodations which are well designed, pleasant places to live, the R-2A district is established. The purpose of this district is to provide selected areas for the development of moderate density apartments and other multifamily dwellings including garden apartments, townhouses and condominium complexes in suburban and other portions of the City of Greenville and surrounding Washington County planning area. It is the intent of this ordinance that the use of this district in suburban areas be restricted to carefully selected sites with a high degree of public utility services, fireprotection, transportation facilities and other public services and facilities necessary to support moderate to high-density residential land use. It is not the intent of this ordinance that the R-2A, Restricted Multifamily Residential District be intermingled with single-family residential districts
