About North
Avondale
North Avondale, located between Avondale and Clifton, is a residential and institutional Cincinnati neighborhood with grand historic homes and a leafy, campus-adjacent feel. The neighborhood’s character concentrates along Reading Road near the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, where hospital corridors, academic buildings, and long-standing eateries set a steady weekday rhythm. Architectural identity leans toward large early-20th-century houses, brick apartment buildings, and shaded streets that read formal and quiet. The University of Cincinnati and nearby medical campuses shape the streetscape with lecture halls, labs, and clinics. Pockets of green space and garden paths add a calm counterpoint to the traffic on the main arterials. Cultural touchstones like the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden and Burnet Woods give the area a distinct, outdoors-and-institutions cadence.
