Two-Family Dwelling District

This district provides areas for low and medium density one- and two-family dwelling uses, which provide a buffer from agricultural and single-family districts and the higher density areas of the city. Minimum lot size requirements are provided in order to allow for market design and flexibility while preserving the neighborhood character. The district regulations are designed to: protect the residential character of the area by prohibiting commercial and industrial activities, apartments and manufactured homes; encourage a suitable neighborhood environment; and preserve the openness of the area by requiring that certain minimum yard and area standard requirements are met. The district regulations are designed to encourage a suitable neighborhood environment for family life by including among the permitted uses such facilities as schools, libraries, and neighborhood recreation centers.; The R-2 district implements the following policies of the master plan: Encourage patterns of urban development that provide a full range of housing choices and promote a sense of community, urban vitality and the efficient provision of infrastructure.; Encourage connectivity throughout the city.
