Becky Ashton

Becky helped us to get several approval letters very quickly. Most of the communication was over emails (including questions and documents she requested), and it was effective. Some issues surfaced a couple days before closing and that caused a delay. Not sure if that was avoidable, however.

Got an excellent rate from First Tech Federal. Very low closing costs. Becky was easy to work with and super responsive when we had questions. I usually got an answer from here within 4 business hours and often got responses over the weekend when I wasn't expecting them until Monday.

Becky is one of the worst loan officers that we had the misfortune to deal with in our house buying experience. She would prefer to talk to our agent rather than us directly, even though it was our loan. We were never sure if we were going to close on time, the rate of interest we would get and other critical information. We were caught unaware at the end when after everything was approvd, our close date was not met, because of some error on her part and she tried to blame the exchrow copany. We were not even informed about it, but she told the agent. 5 minutes before the agent called me with the bad news, Becky had sent me an email confirming everything. Her dealings with us were not as we were c ustomers, but as she was doing us a favor. To get a response from her was very difficult and we were never kept in the loop on anything. We had the opportunity to work with another loan officer from the same bank, but we did not switch, since it would have been unprofessional. But working with Becky was really challenging.

First Tech's closing costs were higher than a mortgage broker I talked to, but way lower than any other credit union I looked at in the Seattle area. Becky was friendly. She didn't pressure me to choose them nor to go with a particular mortgage product. She was helpful when I didn't know much about the process back when I first started working with her in November and would come over to Seattle from the Eastside to meet me in person. When things weren't going according to plan, she was transparent in what was going wrong. I have and would choose to work with her and First Tech again on another property, in addition to recommending their services to friends who are eligible for First Tech membership.
