Brandon was wonderful to work with, and always took the time to explain any questions I had about the process as a first time homeowner. However the process of acquiring loan approval was incredibly taxing and inefficient as most of the process was handled by the assistant Maria. She took several hours to respond back to my calls/emails/texts regarding time sensitive matters. It was only until I decided to involve one of her superiors that she would respond back immediately. Perhaps she was incredibly busy with other clients and the response time was a coincidence but I am simply sharing my perspective. The next issue that was quite irksome was how she attempted to acquire a two day extension for the loan deadline. While my dad’s name is on the loan, I was the go-to contact via email/text whenever Chase needed anything (finding and uploading documents, paying off accounts etc.) as my dad is incredibly busy at work, and he is also not as familiar with technology. The only exception to me being the go-to was when Maria attempted to acquire a 2-day extension for loan approval, where she emailed my dad instead and left me off the email chain. I only found out about this 2-day extension inquiry because my dad happened to mention it to me when I called him on the phone for a different matter. If you read the disclaimers on one of the contracts that Chase makes you sign, the document basically states that Chase will provide monetary compensation if they don’t fulfill the process of loan approval by the agreed upon deadline. However, if you as the buyer request an extension to the deadline, you will be disqualified from receiving any compensation. So from my prospective, it seems like Maria deliberately left me off the email chain because she knew my dad wouldn’t look into the matter and they would’ve easily gotten the extension. When I proceeded to ask Maria and her team if the extension would disqualify us from receiving such compensation, no one was able to give me a straightforward yes or no answer regarding the matter. I literally said word for word that I wanted a definitive yes or no answer and Maria’s manager said to reference the disclosures we previously received and that a different team from Chase determines compensation eligibility. So of course I said we would not be proceeding with the extension, and they had to fulfill the requirements for loan approval by deadline. I usually never write such vexing reviews but I was so incredibly stressed and frustrated having to deal with Chase and Maria for this home loan. TLDR: DON’t USE CHASE IF YOU NEED A HOME LOAN.
