I've purchased numerous homes in my lifetime and have never, ever, ever, ever worked with such an unprofessional group of people. The woman who runs this place, Buffie, should focus less on slaying vampires and more on how to run an escrow company.
Where do I start??? First off, this company is doing business like it's the early 90's. They refuse to use DocuSign or any other kind of online document signing company which really slows things down. Everything needs to be sent via fax or mail. If you have an old telegram laying around then these jokers are a perfect fit for you.
They take forever to return phone calls, if they return them at all. And when you finally do get ahold of someone they speak to you like you are inconveniencing them.
When it was time to sign documents they couldn't find a notary. I could understand this if I were in the middle of Central America but I live in Los Angeles. There are more notaries in this city than actors! When the notary did finally show up, 3 hours after she was scheduled to meet me, she barely spoke english, had food stains all over her shirt, and spelled my name wrong on numerous important documents. Also, she knew nothing about the documents I was signing. If I was a first time home buyer this would have been a disaster.
They held my money hostage! I signed all my documents on a Friday afternoon and wired the funds needed to close to this company. The deal didn't close until Wednesday of the following week! The reason for the delay they said was because I lived all the way up in LA (they are in San Diego) and the documents were delayed getting to them. Like I mentioned earlier, their unwillingness to embrace technology severely hinders the closing process and ended up costing me interest I could have been earning on my money if I'd left it in my account.
Escrow companies are a dime a dozen. Use any other company.
