I had a great experience with better right up until closing day where I had a possibly the most stressful day of my life due to Better's team. I was supposed to receive a $2k promotional credit on my closing costs that I was repeatedly assured thorughout the closing process that it would appear on my final dicslosure. Every time a new document was produced without the credit i would reach out and confirm that i would be receiving 2k more than shown and i was assured that was still the case. Final disclosure comes around and its not there. My Agent reaches out to her contact at better and they say that the credit is there and its wrapped up in my lender credits line(this was not the case and im unsure why they even said that). I reach out to my home advisor and He says that I dont qualify for the credit! This is the first instance of conflicting statements from better. After some back and forth they confirmed that I am indeed eligible for the credit (the same credit that they confirmed many times before that i was eligible for) and now they are saying that I cant close today because they cant get the credit on in time. This created a lot of problems because the seller had already signed their end earlier in the day and I had traveled to A different citty with nowhere to stay that night if I did not close. It is now an hour before closing and my home advisor then said that they would cut me a check after closing for 1.5k because they arent legally allowed to give me the full 2k due to some limits( something i was never told about before when i repeatedly asked about this credit) but said i was fine to go ahead and sign the papers and then get the check after. I asked for this promise in writing and then 30 minutes later as I am walking into the office to sign my closing documents he calls and says that they cant cut me a check and if i sign the papers i forfeit the money, WHAT? After lots of back and forth and delays they told me the only way they could get me to close that day was if i changed my rate on the spot and received less credits which obviously i agreed to because i really had no choice. I would not recommend better to friends after this very stressful experience and being effectively forced to change the terms of my mortgage at the very last moment.
