We had an awful experience with Amber at Chase bank. We first agreed to using Chase because they proposed great rates for us. When it came down to locking in the rate they claimed the rates changed since last week and were not higher. It took some time discussing with Chase but we could get back to the original proposed rate if we increased our down payment amount. Throughout the rest escrow process, we were reassured that all deadlines were being met and all loan contingencies were not at risk to close out. It was coming down to a few days before the date of closing and the Chase documents had not yet gone to Title for review. On the closing date, the documents still were not into Title and Amber was not responding to emails or phone calls. No one from Chase that was involve in our escrow was responding to emails or phone calls. Everyone went dark. It took a physical trip to the Chase branch for us to hear from someone that Amber was on vacation. A Chase banker made several phone calls through multiple bosses to try and contact someone who knew the status of our documents. Eventually we learned that there was an internal computer issue with Chase that was preventing them from sending the documents to title, but we had no knowledge of this issue the entire day. Chase was not able to get the documents to Title by the closing date and we were at risk of losing the house. Once we got a hold of Amber late that night she apologized for being out of contact, but said we were over reacting about missing the closing date. We were shocked that Chase was not able to meet deadlines after reassuring us multiple times that they would meet the closing dates and then told us we were over reacting when they could not perform as promised. Chase was able to get documents to the Title company the day after closing, but the documents were not drafted up the way we had discussed during the closing process. We decided to go ahead and sign the documents as they were given to the Title company in fear that the selling agent would issue a notice and potentially terminate our offer. I do not know if this is a typical issue with Chase, but our experience was an absolute nightmare and we would not recommend using Amber to anyone.
