My wife and I had the privilege of working with Lucky. I tried looking at other lenders, but I quickly learned that costs and APR are pretty competitive from lender to lender. I've learned that what matters more is the service, responsiveness, and helpfulness of the lender.
Buying a house is a headache to say the least. To make the process easier, you must have a solid team that you can count on that is willing to go to bat for you.
Relfin was recommended to me by my Realtor, Lana Carreira. She raved about how fast and helpful they were with her previous clients, so I thought I needed to check Relfin out. After quickly looking at reviews and talking to Lucky, I was not disappointed.
Lucky was humble and knowledgeable. He was transparent and clearly had my best interest in mind. He was friendly and patient and even commended me with checking out his competitors. I truly appreciated how he was even willing to come to my place at 9:00 on a Friday night just to be present for Notary signing. It truly showed how dedicated he was to making sure my wife and I were taken care of.
Josie was the coordinator of this experience, and though I didn't have the privilege of meeting her, she too was exceptional and fast at everything that she did.

The only real downside I see is that most mortgage companies do not have a great mobile/web experience like rocket mortgage. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't bother me too much as I will just be setting things to autopay, but modern tools matter a LOT to me. That being said, I much prefer working with business that depends on your great experience than a faceless team of people that just happen to have a fantastic app.
The lender Relfin picked out for us is UWM (United Wholesale Mortgage). They do not have an app, nor is there any clear documentation on whether recasting is an option. It would would be nice to have that option available, although I do understand that I'd likely be better off investing the money rather than paying a lump sum to lower my monthly payment.
I'm sure that the technological landscape will change in the next ten years, so hopefully mortgage companies will be more on board with modern practices. But until then, we will likely use Relfin again to help us on our next home purchase.
