I would rather file my nails in a meat grinder than EVER use, or put anyone else through the misery of working with USAA by recommending such a terrible company. I'm a veteran and you would think they would give damn about helping me since that is how they advertise their services. I could not call BS louder than if I were to shout from the highest of roof tops! THIS COMPANY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT MILITARY OR VETERANS AND WOULD SOONER MAKE YOU ANOTHER HOMELESS VETERAN THAN TO ACTUALLY HELP UTILIZE THE VERY BENEFIT FOR WHICH WE SERVED! I spent my formative adulthood institutionalized in the military, and one day hoped I could use my VA home loan Benefit. In April of 2021 when I was pre-approved for a home loan, I gave them every detail of my financial history, every document, even my degree and transcripts to prove I was working in my field, and I had my job contract for the job I moved across the country for. They new it all, debt, asset, every financial detail...They knew and pre-approved me based on all of the information they requested and I provided. I was as transparent as humanly possible. They probed me like it was a ufo abduction. And yet, these cruel and unscrupulous lenders found it fitting to rescind their pre-approved offer TWO WEEKS BEFORE CLOSING AT THE END OF AUGUST! They began this process with me in April, they knew every detail for months and months, and did not decide to terminate the transaction until nearly 5 months later, mere weeks before closing. Mind you, my entire life was packed on a freighter being driven across the country, coast to coast and I was a third of the way across the country driving my way to my new home and new job and new life. I was absolutely devastated and living in a hotel. They did not gain any new information that would cause them to pull out, nothing changed on my end, but they had been difficult to work with leading up to their decision to end the transaction. I had stayed with them because I was so far into the process, but I was unhappy with them from jump. I should have gone elsewhere when I was initially displeased with their service, but I felt it would make the process more difficult to start over. USAA made that decision for me when they abandoned me with out care or compassion. THANKFULLY, Navy Federal Credit Union stepped in and made it happen, and for a better rate. Navy Federal saved my purchase and got me in the home just a little after the original close date and prevented me from throwing my money away living in a hotel for another week, and USAA couldn't even work the transition properly! When Navy Federal Credit Union requested they transfer the inspection, USAA spoke directly to my loan officer at Navy Federal Credit Union to organize the transfer, knowing she was from navy federal, USAA managed to send the inspection to Rocket Mortgage! AT NO POINT IN MY ENTIRE PROESS OF HOME BUYING DID I ENTERTAIN THE IDEA OF USING ROCKET MORTGAGE. USAA had the courtesy to CC the inspection transfer at My loan officer's Navy Federal Credit Union email, it did not occur to them that perhaps Rocket Mortgage wasn't the correct destination. This further delayed the process because then Navy Federal Credit Union had to request the inspection from the VA. I couldn't make this up if I wanted to. So not only did USAA abandon me nearly at the finish line, they caused delays that further financially cost me because I could not close on time. I cannot believe this company has the audacity to pretend they care about servicing the military and veteran community because that is a joke and merely a performative marketing tactic to further exploit the benefits that we earn. I would rather gargle sulfuric acid than to ever work with USAA on a home buying venture. There is nothing in this universe that could happen to ever cause me to recommend USAA for anyone, not even my worst enemy on my worst day, Id recommend the guy doing mortgages out of his trunk in the alley before I would EVER go to USAA or recommend anyone else do so. USAA almost made this the worst experience of my life, But my real estate agent Jen, and Navy Federal Credit Union loan officers Maryrose Dutcher and Erin Womack absolutely save the day when USAA had me dangling on a cliff side.
