Guidance Residential provides an Islamic compliant way to purchase homes. Their model is based on co-ownership rather than an interest-based mortgage loan. The other great benefits in Islamic financing is the security against foreclosures, more flexibility for late payments, and no early payment fine. I was a bit concerned about the profit rate (similar to interest rate in conventional loans) - but at the end it turned out to be quite good and competitive to other loan pre-approvals I got (considering I was making less than 20% down payment).
Brother Saad was great throughout the process. He is patient, friendly, and always available to answer questions. He explained the entire process and got me through the loan pre-approval process very quickly. I had the letter from him within a day allowing me to make the offer on this house. I will highly recommend working with him, and considering Guidance in general as a more ethical way to finance your new home.
There was some confusion around closing documents and cut-off time on closing day (east coast vs west coast) which delayed our closing by a day. Not a huge issue for us - the previous owners needed another day to clean up anyways. Though the communication between the closing department at Guidance and our title company could've been better. Brother Saad did the best he could to resolve and expedite the process.
