This is specifically for Andy (Amir) Attary. This is my third transaction with Andy (including a prior home purchase, a refi, and my latest purchase, which when Andy was at a different company), and there’s a reason that I go back to Andy time and time again, and will never look elsewhere for my mortgage needs. Andy goes above and beyond every time. He is on point and diligent. I have literally had a random thought pop into my head on a proposed change to the mortgage structure, popped it over by email Sunday night (expecting him to see it in the morning), and received an instant response 15 minutes later telling me he’s working on it immediately. He personally wrote a letter for me to go with the offer to offer extra assurances to the seller (which I believe helped make sure I had a winning offer in this environment where, all too often, us folks getting financing keep getting beaten out by all cash offers). Andy also takes great care to explain in great detail all of the steps in the mortgage process, how decisions are made, what the loan limits are based on, etc. Getting a mortgage with Andy is like receiving a free masterclass in the mortgage process! Andy is also incredibly knowledgeable about the mortgage market, and actually managed to save us ~.4% with perfectly on point advice about interest rate fluctuations (and this is not a fluke, he managed that for me that last two times too!) You might be thinking, ok saving money with advice as to interest rates, that makes sense, but why do I care about everything else? In this hot seller’s market, if you want to compete with cash offers, you need someone like Andy at your side. Homes are flying off the shelf. If you go to an open house on Saturday, if you don’t have an offer in with the full packet by Sunday, you’ve lost out on the house by Monday. You can’t afford to wait until Monday 9 a.m. to get preapproval letters etc. Andy has your back instantly. In the same vein, if you need financing, you need someone willing to take the time to really vouch for you to make you competitive. In addition, you need someone able to help you with a quick closing to compete with cash. Now, I know, it seems like everyone guarantees a “quick” closing, but, read the fine print and if they don’t make it, all you get is a discount on the origination fee. That won’t do you much good if you’ve lost your house. And, a lot of time, with the complicated mortgage process there’s all sort of pitfalls and unforeseen requirements that will trip you up. That’s why Andy taking the time upfront to really walk you through the process is invaluable. He makes sure you understand everything that was happening, which lets you work with him to identify everything you need ahead of time, and avoid all of those unforeseen delays. By really working with you as a person and understanding your situation, (i.e. you’re not just a file number in an inbox) he works cooperatively with you to really help come up with options and customize loan options to best fit your needs. In this market, when it seems like it’s a battle just to get an accepted “offer”, don’t let problems with the mortgage process cost you your hard-won home. Go with Andy, who will give you the personal attention needed to make sure your home purchase is a success.
