Really bad experience here. I equated the Ally Home Loans with the Ally Bank experience when I signed up, boy was I wrong. Communication was non-existent, you had to book calendar meetings with them, and usually they were booked solid for 2 days straight so if you needed something quickly, forget about it. No one picked up their phones or returned voice mails even though their numbers are all over their emails. Emails usually weren't responded to until 6pm+ the day after, which means you lose an entire work day if something needs to get done. Title team was not able to do things properly because everything was going through a single email address. Dragged their feet through the whole process. Very slow to follow up when missing documents (talking weeks here). Though I was able to close on time, it got pushed to quite literally the last possible second (the funds went through half way through signing the closing documents) and only happened because I was calling begging them to get it pushed through. Mortgage rates were very low and dropping, but they have some very strict float down policy where, I still didn't qualify even though it went down over .25% (because of some date thing, even so, .25% is too high in my opinion). And you don't get that automatically, you have to ask them for it (again communication). Made my home buying experience beyond stressful.
