I generally recommend Quicken Loans. Shane Zigman was a pleasure to work with. Unfortunately when my first deal fell through I lost my most desired rate, and then ended up locking another rate that I could have gotten for slightly less had I allowed it to float. (Here I'm quibbling over historically low interest rates, but just be aware that Quicken would not offer a float down option which I did inquire for. The timing of my decision was just before Brexit so I had a lot of uncertainty of what would occur with respect to rates).
My only significant complaint with Quicken in this transaction was with the (unnamed) under-writers. I found their communication to be repetitive, generally terse, and overall unclear. I ended up sending one document in four times before finally figuring out what they really wanted, but only because I pushed hard for the clarification. This stage seems to be the only weakness in their process. Rates and fees were very competitive, (fees) particularly as a returning customer.
