I had read many reviews about Uli before I hired her for my home inspection, many said she was detailed and thorough, one even said she was “extremely” so, but my experience with her was quite different. To begin with, she mixed up my address with another one she went to on the same day 2 times in the report, and also in the email by which she sent me the report. I couldn’t help thinking if any other information also got mixed up! She hadn’t noticed the fridge was leaking inside until I mentioned that to her at the end of the inspection, and then she said she would add it to the report. I found out by myself that the dishwasher racks were rusty at the end of the inspection period, and it’s so severe on a wire that it had broken. Rusty dishwasher racks are hazardous to health and that should not have been missed in a home inspection. Her inspection didn’t cover the blinds of the home. It was to my surprise because blinds are such essential and accessible items in every home, and they are easily broken. She didn’t check the temperature of hot water coming out of the water heater, and said, “water temperatures above 125 degree Fahrenheit can cause severe burns.” Surely that was understood, but if she was explaining why she didn’t test it, should she have equipment to do so if necessary? Her language in the report is sometimes vague, like …”tend to leak…,” “ may at some point start to leak …”, ” “…may have…” that sounds applicable to all plastic water pipes, and to a certain extent caused unnecessary concern. Or she noticed a problem, but didn’t mention the cause of, just suggested further evaluation by other professionals. Some comments are too general that doesn’t need a licensed professional to point out, like the filters of the microwave “should be cleaned regularly.” “Too much (water) pressure can lead to damaged pipes.” Sometimes, a problem she points out is not a problem, like “the water pressure is very high.” We found it just right, and our property is on the top floor of the building, so still have strong water pressure should be a merit. However, to be fair, I have to say that it was the first time I had used a home inspector, I am not sure what should be generally covered, and how a professional inspection should be like. And she did give useful information in some other areas, was responsive to questions and efficient. Still I would not recommend her to anyone. But after all, this is just a personal experience for reference.
Marius was great! I was looking out for a plumber to fix some plumbing issues based on a home inspection report. I called a number of companies, some promised to look at the report, but didn’t reply; some didn’t want to look at the report, and asked for a fee to see the problems on site. But when I called Cornel’s Plumbing, Marius replied quickly and asked me to send him the report voluntarily. He also responded the same day after looking at report, and told me that type of work was not in the scope of his company; then even referred me to another company. I found this true professionalism, and I would definitely consider hiring him if I have needs again in the future.
